    The Arab Peace Initiative wasn't a "place to start." One of the provisions was the elimination of bilateral negotiations - in other words, Israel was not a part of any negotiations.Also, the Arab Peace Initiative required Israel to recognize Palestine, as a sovereign nation. And conversely, it required ... nothing. Neither Palestine, nor any other signatory would be required to recognize Israel as a sovereign nation. I'm not making this up. I'm citing clause 2c from the original translation.
