No offense, but you simply hate Iran because it is a regional adversary of Israel.

    You are hardly unbiased here

But to call it piety, that doesn't cut it.

How many honour killings in YOUR country per year because the woman removed the head dress?
How many in Canada? I have only heard of that one Shafia case years ago. All other "honor" killings over the years in Canada, that I have read about, were among Indians/Sikhs. Not Muslims

Take Syria as an example. I, as a Democrat, favor that we support the people of Syria in finding their end to a brutal regime.

Support for the Syrian people was there but was far short of was needed to bring about a regime change.
Fair enough. It is clearly possible to make things worse.

Oh, yes, I read about the Aqsa Parvez case too, thanks.

Yeah, it's an issue, no question. But, IMHO, not fundamentally different than domestic abuse and violence within any other families. And to be addressed the same way: arrest and punish the perpetrators

    All there is to it.

Seems like a bit of a stretch.
It's been 70 years. Americans well understand that the price of gas and human rights for ME Arabs are in tension.

Maybe not the kids, but certainly their grandparents. You couldn't live through the 1970's and fail to grasp that point.

Well, wives killed is not much difference but children, that is different.

The US has no power anywhere at this point in the Trump administration so look for a global solution if it becomes necessary. Right now they are all on a wait and see standing.
Whut do you mean, "the U.S. has no power"? That's obviously not true, but even If it were, we could step into Iran's neighbors to encourage them to help the protesters.

    LOL

Iran's western borders are with Turkey in the north and Iraq in the south, terminating at the Arvand Rud. The Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman littorals form the entire 1,770 kilometres (1,100 mi) southern border. To the east lie Afghanistan on the north and Pakistan on the far south.
