    Are the Saudis seeking nukes?

Saudi crown prince warns it will build nuclear bomb if Tehran does the same

Prince Mohammed bin Salman is pressing the US to allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium in return for choosing American nuclear technology

“Saudi Arabia does not want to acquire any nuclear bomb, but without a doubt, if Iran developed a nuclear bomb, we will follow suit as soon as possible,” bin Salman told CBS television.
Saudi Arabia wants initially to build two nuclear stations as part of its medium term program to wean itself off oil. It plans to build 16 civil nuclear stations over 20 to 25 years generating 16 gigawats of nuclear energy.
Although Saudi Arabia stresses it wants nuclear technology only for peaceful uses, it has left unclear whether it also wants to enrich uranium to produce nuclear fuel, a process which can be used in the production of atomic weapons.
US administration officials have already met bin Salman in London to discuss the terms of a deal.
Call me crazy, but I don't think this is a good idea.

lol And (especially if the US won't help them with this), I can TOTALLY picture Russia getting involved, alliance with Iran be damned... Hey, there are many conflicts where they have had no qualms to arm up both sides and watch the place burn. And, another upside: if Iran and Saudis end up nuking each other, that's two top oil producers in the world, two big competitors for Russia, removed, right there...

God, I hope Putin ain't reading this and getting the idea from me...

Trump has triggered a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.

Not just Iran and Saudi Arabia. If those two nations push for a nuclear capability, you can expect Turkey will CERTAINLY follow suit. And probably Egypt as well.

Within five years, ALL of the following countries could have nuclear capability: Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, India. [Israel, Pakistan, and India already do, of course.]

Does that make you feel safer?

There is also a movement in Ukraine to rebuild their nuke program, to counter any more Russian incursions. And, unless North Korea truly does disarm soon, we may also see South Korea and Japan start own programs in near future...

I don't know, maybe that's what we need though. A "Second Amendment" for countries? An armed society is a polite society, right? If every country has the capability to destroy (or, at least, very seriously devastate) another, maybe we'll finally have peace on Earth

<joke>How about we compromise? You are crazy and this is a terrible idea.</joke>

Seriously though, if Iran and Saudi get nukes... we can all kiss our asses goodbye.

This is what Trump hath wrought. And Turkey and Egypt might go for nukes, as well. I hardly think Turkey would sit on its hands if it sees both Iran and Saudi Arabia going nuclear.....
