They see boys their own age as "slackers" that cant hold down a job and play video games all day. They are reaping the rewards of previous generations before them. They just don't feel they need to do the same things as our generations did, now they have to live up to it and prove what women said back in the 60s and 70s. It is different for them and will be for the generation after them.
Oh good. Do they have ANY idea that we're losing ground? Or do they just think having sovereign rights over one's own body is no big deal, and what's happening with birth control is a non-issue in their minds.

"If you went up to a millennial and asked if they believe in equal rights for all, they would look at you like you're crazy, because that's a silly question," said Lauren Rikleen, executive-in-residence at Boston College. "But if you ask if they're feminist, there's this backing away and an emotional reaction."

Really? Why is that a silly question. We don't have them. Are they unaware of that little factoid?

If you ask the same people about equality they think its great.
Which means it's a semantic issue, not a real issue.

Ask people if they want "socialism" and they will recoil. Ask them if they want to repeal social security, medicare, food stamps, TANF, etc....and they will also recoil.

We still have so much ground to gain. And a lot of it will happen generationally. So I really, really don't want to see women thinking well. I'm not wearing a burka. I can go to school without anybody shooting at me. Because that means they are willing to settle with the glass ceiling in place, ... you know, maybe there never will be FULL equality. But it's certainly not time to accept the status quo because as I stated earlier in the thread, we don't do stagnant. We lose ground. People in power take advantage if they think they can, and we start losing hard-earned rights.

...but this video tackles a much more insidious force holding girls back: the general pressure on them to be, for lack of a better term, more ladylike. It points out how we not only value beauty, but also prioritize neatness, quiet, and safety in girls while encouraging risk-taking and confidence in boys.

This all comports with the research that shows that girls and women shy away from riskier endeavors—including majors where getting B's and C's are more likely to happen—than boys and men do. It's not just, or even mainly, about looks. It's about these other pressures on women that leave them little room to screw up. Especially since science, as a field, is about experimenting with things and learning to pick yourself up again and start over if your hypothesis fails. So kudos to Verizon and Makers for getting it right, and hopefully this will encourage further efforts to tackle the real reasons girls find their natural curiosity so frequently stifled while growing up.

To be quite honest, both my daughters predicted that the ACA would put women back in the stone age. They knew having private insurers and companies control an individuals health would lead to this. In fact my eldest daughter won a silly contest at work because she was the only (and youngest) who predicted the Hobby Lobby case. They know if you give a certain private group of people authority it will end badly. That's why they want single payer where the government (who must be equal and have no opinions) is in charge of healthcare and not individual people who have all sorts of beliefs. Its only going to get worse now.

"So I'm going to be true to my political beliefs, rather than my gender."

Do they even know the book "The Handmaid's Tale" exists?
