Well in my case, it has a lot of my aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as the graves of grandparents, and great-grandparents.

I'm sure the fact that Mississippi doesn't name any schools after civil war generals won't earn them any points. Haters gonna hate.

Back in the mid 60s, when I played on my high school baseball team, we played Lee Davis High School. Just out of curiosity, I googled it. Somewhat to my surprise, it seems that it is still that name and they still call themselves the Confederates.

Not that hopping around on the fucking sidelines is really all that important to the game. (But, at least High School and College Cheerleaders are athletic and acrobatic.)

Dancing is still a better extracurricular activity, in my opinion.....
My parents wouldn't let me join the football team, so I joined the cheerleading squad to piss them off, and it was a brilliant move made out of spite. I had a good time.

Smart move and I bet your female partners were glad that you were there to catch them. In my senior year of high school, I needed to select an elective course, so I took typing. The boy/girl ratio was great (actually I was only one of two males in the class) and it was my nature to get to know my classmates. Little did I know that much, much, much later in life that it would become so handy.

Wondering if the crowd who thinks it's wrong to rename schools named after Confederate figures thinks it's wrong that Mississippi didn't name any after them in the first place?
    Thanks from StanStill

Are you making notes of all the random Confederate Generals that did great things that affected the course of humanity? I didn't think so....

Well, Stonewall Jackson did let himself get shot by one of his own men.

If your state has connections to so few notable people that you must resort to naming schools after traitors to our nation, your state has more serious problems than school names.

    Useless Trivia:

At the request of many alumni who were too embarrassed to hang up their diplomas, Beaver College renamed itself to Arcadia University in 2001.
