Ever been arrested for attending an AA meeting? Lesser of two evils my friend.

There is literally no way to know that.

Law enforcement would only have data for recidivists who commit crimes. If an AA member falls off the wagon and becomes an alcoholic - without running afoul of the police - the only viable source of data would be the person's doctor.

Again - it's a supernatural entity. If I'm wrong, can you define the word "higher" and the word "power" in the context you used above?

And if you define "higher" as "greater," I'll slap you. That's word substitution; not a definition.

Seems like keeping records would be a useful tool if a goal of AA is to improve the efficacy of their processes.

Who would be responsible for such record keeping, and how would they verify the accuracy of their records?

That is what I was asking about, or at least that is what I meant.

The language is "power greater than yourself." I believe "higher power" was the substitution. However, Hollywood has it right that such a "power" can be anything and need not be supernatural in nature.

It is more accurately called a fellowship (as the AA book itself says) than a rehabilitation program. It also seeks to maintain individual anonymity, per the 12 Traditions, such that record-keeping would ultimately violate that no matter how "confidential." Furthermore, it does not seek to replace the services of qualified professionals.
    Thanks from NightSwimmer and Hollywood
