This thread was created in response to people having the GALL to merely DISCUSS one aspect of the transgender issues. Whether Planned Parenthood should give hormones to teens. That is in part why it's being poorly received by many. That thread is NOT debating whether trans should exist, which is what is stated in the OP.

I guess it's trying now to just be a mix of general rants and memes. Certainly nothing is being brought for discussion.

How does your trans "friend" feel about this stuff, anyway? Do they agree with you?
Sorry to butt in, but I understand you are, I hope I get this right, transgender?

I am simply curious, and I have passed the threshold of bigotry.

I just want to add it is a wonderful thing that a transgender individual can come out in this world, be themself.

Sorry if this has been covered, too many pages to read through.

Is gender physical or mental? Does the mind win over the physical or vice versa?

Are we the only species that has more than 2 genders?
Thanks from BitterPill, Coyote and Bronwyn

I suspect gender can be physical or mental or both. I think the mind sometimes wins over the physical, sometimes not. On gender, I guess it depends on what is considered gender.

That is my attempt at answering your questions. I only hope I got one right.

If something happened and your genitals were destroyed in an accident, would it change who you are inside?

Combat veterans with genital injuries find little help overcoming intimacy, pregnancy challenges

Gender is a uniquely human concept, so you won't find much on animal genders, but as far as sex, the natural world is far more amazing and diverse than most people are aware of.

How, Roughgarden wondered, does biology account for such a huge population, normally considered an unfortunate footnote in scientific theory? "When scientific theory says something is wrong with so many people, perhaps the theory is wrong, not the people," she concluded.

The result was her 2004 book Evolution's Rainbow, which examined the multitudinous ways that sex is expressed in nature. It goes far beyond our black-and-white definitions of "male" and "female".

"As a biologist, you think there may be a couple – maybe as many as a dozen – of cases that depart from heteronormative binary," says Roughgarden. "But when I got into it I was astonished by just how much variation there is."

Yes. Trans is fine for short.

    CN/TW: suicide

“Dear Mommy and Papa, I am so sorry to do this to you but I have killed myself by jumping off the top floor,” Hope wrote.
A trans teen left the most heartbreaking suicide note. Her name was Hope.

Obituaries are written by the funeral homes and run in the newspapers as an advertisement/announcement. Keep in mind the funeral director got all this information from someone in the family. The funeral director had never met Eric Peter Verbeeck nor Hope. In the obituary, it specifically mentions the letter and how the deceased wished to be remembered. Funeral homes are paid to do what the family wishes. I haven't seen any lawsuits, nor have I seen the parents speaking out that the funeral home did not comply with their wishes.

There is an actual news story about the death of Eric Peter Verbeeck that refers to Verbeeck using feminine pronouns even though Patricia McKay Verbeeck (mother) used male pronouns when speaking of her deceased teen. If you want to be pissed about the pronouns, it's the mother that you need to flame.

On Tuesday, Eric’s mother, Patricia McKay Verbeeck, agreed to speak with a Herald reporter. “Eric would have wanted to do this when he was a little older,” said Verbeeck, who continues to refer to Eric with male pronouns. “He could have called up a reporter to say, ‘I think we have to get the message out there about sexual identity issues. I want to tell my story.”

So now she’s sharing Eric’s story and what she believes would be Eric’s message to people about sexual identity.

Most of my friends are varying degrees of freaked out at 45's pick for SoS.

When transgender people travel abroad, a passport with the wrong gender can out us in hostile, sometimes violently anti-LGBTQ environments. It can also create confusion with border officials, and delays if a passport gender doesn’t match the gender on other documents. If we could trust that common sense and humanity would inform Pompeo’s decisions in his new role, there’d be no reason for worry. But for extremists like him, creating unnecessary hardship for transgender people is the goal, not an unintended consequence. His appointment as secretary of state imperils LGBTQ people at home and abroad.

You think that you don't like President Trump's pick for Secretary of State, just imagine whom President Mike Pence would pick.
