    TL;DR:

Children 3 and 4 do not receive hormones or even puberty blockers, let alone surgeries. If the parents (and school) allows them to, they can "socially transition" at that age, i.e., dress in their target gender and use their chosen pronouns. Other 3 and 4 year olds don't really notice or care about these things. No human being that young has secondary sex characteristics, which is what hormone therapy and surgeries are meant to address/correct.

This is just another scare tactic to drive ratings, freak you out, and get you to contribute your money to someone's political campaign (be they R or D).

    Don't be a sucker.

    More from your link -

On Fox & Friends, Canadian psychology professor and "alt-right" darling Jordan Peterson pushed the anti-trans myth that "children as young as 3 or 4 can now decide what gender they are and then undergo the appropriate surgical and biological alterations." However, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health's (WPATH) standards of health care for transgender and gender nonconforming people state that genital surgery "should not be carried out until (i) patients reach the legal age of majority in a given country, and (ii) patients have lived continuously for at least 12 months in the gender role that is congruent with their gender identity." The standards note that chest surgery for female-to-male patients "could be carried out earlier, preferably after ample time of living in the desired gender role and after one year of testosterone treatment."

The age of majority in most most states is 18 years old, and experts and practitioners in the field of gender affirmation surgery say that they generally practice the surgery on patients who are at least that age, though they sometimes perform breast removal on teenagers as young as 16. According to BuzzFeed, kids typically start puberty blockers, which "essentially hit pause on the physical changes that would occur during puberty" and are reversible, at "the very first signs of puberty -- usually in the ballpark of 14 or 15 years old." For instance, in a 2015 study, the average age in which patients started puberty blockers was 12.5 years old, and in some cases, this was followed by hormone therapy at an average age of 16.5.

It's good the article contained all the information.

Thank you for quoting more of the article. I was trying not to go overboard with it and quote the whole thing.

I also didn't want to get sidetracked into a discussion of exactly how young some doctors have advocated beginning a medical intervention. I wanted to stick to the point that the idea that 3 and 4 year olds are receiving medical interventions is nothing more than fearmongering for $. It would almost be funny if it wasn't for the real harm it does to trans kids by playing on their parents' fears.
    Thanks from Madeline

Quit ascribing feelings to people they aren't expressing. And seriously, this thread can't stay about hormones? We have to do bathrooms again?

Reinforcing the false premise that sex is a choice they can make to children of 3 or 4 is wrong, damaging, and simply child abuse. And those children, raised as the opposite gender since the age of 3 or 4, will end up at puberty taking hormones, getting surgery, just as Peterson said, when a wise parent could have simply told them at the age of 3 or 4 "no, you're not. See, you have that, which means you are a..." boy or girl. How many kids are permanently screwed up because parents didn't simply straighten them out?
Oh, btw, the country with the second highest number of "sex change" operations is... Iran. Now why would that be?

I don't think it's a matter of fear. I wouldn't want a guy going into a restroom where my wife, or my grand daughters were going. Of course, knowing my wife, she would deck him.

There are a lot of people who are screwed up from being forced to present as a gender they do not identify with.
