A north Georgia school board has approved a measure allowing some school resource off

(AP) GAINESVILLE, GA. A north Georgia school board has approved a measure allowing some school resource officers to carry rifles.
The plan calls for a rifle to be kept in each of the city's high schools and middle schools, The Gainesville Times reported.
The weapons will be kept inside safes and will be accessible only to the school resource officer, school district officials have said. Earlier this year, district leaders said the safes would be accessible by fingerprint recognition.
The estimated $6,000 cost will be split between the district and the police department, the newspaper reported.

Lol, yep, I followed a girl to Wyoming in HS in the late 90s and I saw many rifles on racks in the back windows of students trucks, you could buy guns at the grocery store too! It was a pain in the ass to score beer tho, we had to go through a drive-through at the local bar lol, but they didn't ask for ID

    It wasn't far from that.

Ag building, truck and baseball field were all close together.

It was a different world though, the last of the wide open spaces in the South, with no posted land.

    Those days are over.

We still have a few high schools that have a rifle team. They used to let the kids lock up their guns in their lockers, but now they keep them in the shooting area. But they still bring them into the school.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was when I lived near Little Rock,Ar. back in the early 70's. The town had a little dirt stock car track. I'm watching a race and a bit later the public announcer says "Spectator race" and a dozen or so people leap out of their seats and race for the parking lot, next thing I know there are a couple of dozens cars, station wagons and PU trucks racing around the track, bouncing off each other, all for cheesy little trophy and a $50.00 prize. It was fucking hysterical.
    Thanks from bajisima
