Not sure. Last season, the team that had the highest average point differential (points scored, minus points given up, divided by 16 games) was the New England Patriots at +12 points a game vs. their opponents. The team that had the lowest was the Cleveland Browns at -11.8 points a game vs. their opponents.

24 of the 32 teams in the league had point differentials from +5 points per game to -5 points per game vs. their opponents.

But if it's well done at the macro level it keeps teams competitive with each other and you don't have to risk losing everything by manipulating it on the micro level.

The super good teams are way better than the super bad teams. But the draft, limits on free agency, and the salary cap do a really good job of making it so there really isn't a huge difference between the good or above average teams and the poor or below average teams. It's not uncommon at all for a team to go 9-7 and make the playoffs even though that's just one game above .500.

Ya, best place for insiders would be via the referees... A "bad call" at the wrong time can make a difference.

Seriously, I'm really not harmed regardless, but given the money involved, I don't doubt for a second that there's some corruption going on.

Seems I recall hearing about referees in the NBA being caught intentionally affecting the outcome of basketball games a few years back. I think it would be more difficult for an individual official to get away with that in football.

There is no way to throw a football game in the modern day NFL. Why? Because more than one player would have to be in on the fix and the moment that that player gets cut, he would spill the beans.
