News (real and fake) travel faster nowadays, yes, but 1) that doesn't change the nature of their content, and 2) unless I'm missing something huge (entirely possible with someone to whom PH is the closest thing to "social media" she uses), they don't travel THAT faster than, say, 5 or even 10 years ago when no one seemed that terrified and perplexed by the fact that people sometimes say and share things that aren't true.
To me, it is propaganda. To Trump followers, it's the only truth, and everything else is false.

I don't doubt that. Still, gas-lighting is primarily a Republican thing in the US. At least, it has been since the mid-twentieth century. From McCarthy to the John Birchers to the Moral Majority to the Tea Party... It's a right-wing thing -- and the GOP is the right-wing party in the USA.

It's easy to spot "fake" news - it usually has a lot of biased words in the article. Or it's just a website with nothing at the top, like who runs the site, where you can contact them, etc.

I guess some people just don't "get" that??

Shame people use the phrase now for legit news that they just don't like.

Simple minded insults for simple minded people. Might as well be buzzwords, but feel free to dodge the point with transparent semantics.
