Update:
John apparently installed my coffee cup in the microwave. Undoubtedly, this was in some misguided attempt to transport my cup to the Hale Bopp comet for later consumption.
Fortunately, when I arrived at the office today I discovered his malicious plot and was able to foil it, by picking up my cup and returning it to my desk.
I've sent an email to agents Fox and Scully for further action.
