James Comey says FBI grappling with Marijuana hiring issues

Attracting smart, young FBI employees is getting tougher and tougher due to the strict marijuana policy.

Mr. Comey said that the agency was “grappling with the question right now” of how to amend the agency’s marijuana policies, which excludes from consideration anyone who has smoked marijuana in the previous three years, according to the FBI’s Web site. One conference goer asked Mr. Comey about a friend who had shied away from applying because of the policy. “He should go ahead and apply,” despite the marijuana use.

So Jiffy Sessions hauls him in, and Comey explained his comments. Funny isn't it that old men like Jiffy and his ilk would apparently rather have an alcoholic who comes in with the shakes every morning and has a martini at lunch just to feel normal behind a keyboard than a bright, responsible, and occasional user of pot.

Comey is correct, ditch the 3 year policy.. it's ridiculous especially with legalization in several states medicinally and/or recreationally. We are missing out on a ton of potential talent.

I've always found it amusing how the same people who declare the gubberment's "war on drugs" an abject failure (it is), can simultaneously support a gubberment "war on guns"

There's some mental illness for you.

It's as if they believe drug users are incapable of abiding by the laws of the land....but other law breakers will simply comply with whatever laws the state hands down.

    I digress.

    In the interest of "fairness"

I also find it amusing how many of the same people who deny "AGW"...or, more specifically, are in agreement that gubberment bureaucrats couldn't "fix" global warming if they had all the authority and money in the world (they can't), can simultaneously appeal to gubberment to legislate away immorality and culture rot.

    Ok. I'm done.

For the short term, they could at least reduce the window from three years down to six months. That would allow them to maintain adherence to codified federal law while alleviating the problem.

Yes, you do. The thread is about pot use and the FBI, not about gun control.
    So, back on track:

At least the past three presidents used pot before having been elected, by their own admissions. The ones before that may have, too. Who knows? Who cares?

But, the FBI has to be invested in the idea that pot is a "class 1 narcotic", and that use thereof is a felony, this despite the indisputable fact that outlawing pot has not ended its use, and that there is no evidence its use is as big of a problem as the use of tobacco is.
