U.S. will engage in direct talks with Iran on Iraq disintegration

Which really makes perfect sense, IMO. If you remove the element of our history of spats and mutually childish international conduct,
Iran is really not any worse than the Saudis. And when you have this situation, where the only real reason ISIS can even operate on
the scale that it does because of Saudi oil money, any political fallout this causes is worth it. Iran has shown that it is, on the surface,
willing to invest what is needed to bring some security to the situation, and reportedly there are even Quds Force troops in Baghdad
right now. Al-Maliki listens to them more than he ever has to us and so they need to be brought into the fold.

Who knows? With the current relatively moderate executive that Iran has, we might be able to make headway with them on other key
issues in the future if this situation can be resolved to both nations' satisfaction.
    Thanks from Hollywood and Minotaur

I know it's far more immature than your accurate assessment, but my first thought was about how awesome it is in TV shows and movies when the good guy and the bad guy join forces to take on an even worse bad guy.

Iran is getting ready to be the hegemony in the region and when that happens to a nation you usually see their responsibility increase. Iraq is their backyard so that's probably going to be their first priority.

I hope they get their nukes soon.

Using nuclear weapon's on one's next-door neighbor is usually considered an unwise strategy.

They won't use it but once a nation gets them their power raises exponentially, except in the case of NK who are a completely unique issue.

What a funny turn of events. We get closer to Iran to get control of the Iraq situation. All the better. We need to be on better terms with Iran anyway.
