    Time to "save capitalism from itself" Financial Engineering could be the downfall

    Of US industry;

    Low rates, also lowers the value of money

    And the corporations who have borrowed like drunken ATMers' find it's coming home to roost

    Wrath of Financial Engineering: It?s Now Eating into Earnings | Wolf Street

    Sounds like paying the piper is eating into profits.

    Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are right; and in the long view, they may be the best supporters of true capitalism.

    The situation you bring up comes from Obama and the Democrat's management of the economy.

    Liberals enact all sorts of government obstacles, place regulations on Small Businesses, and destroy the Free Market and then when their brand of "Crony Capitalism" creates issues they want to fix "Capitalism".

    It has been mentioned before, but I guess you missed it - regulation of the market follows abuse, it does not precede abuse.

    Abuse often follows deregulation, S&L crisis, energy crisis, loan defaults and concomitant international economic meltdown are examples.

    Whether it precedes or follows is irrelevant. When laws, regulations, rules, etc... make it near impossible for new businesses to get started, we have destroyed Free Market Capitalism. Trying to claim it is the problem when it doesn't exist is an exercise for lying Socialists.

    Even Alan Greenspan, Ayn Rand acolyte, said he never anticipated free market actors would behave so irresponsibly.

    Mr. Greenspan admitted that he had put too much faith in the self-correcting power of free markets and had failed to anticipate the self-destructive power of wanton mortgage lending.

    “Those of us who have looked to the self-interest of lending institutions to protect shareholders’ equity, myself included, are in a state of shocked disbelief,” he told the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

    Those "free market actors" should have been put in prison. They used government ties to abuse the markets. If you allow the Free Markets to operate with integrity, there is no more powerful economic force known to man that will bring more out of poverty and provide more with a better standard of living. Socialism isn't even close.

    But they don't act with integrity, they engage in malfeasance after malfeasance, and have throughout the Industrial Age.
