Ryan Elected Speaker--Gets 236 GOP Votes

This is a good sign for Ryan. Nearly all the GOP members went along. He lost just a handful of conservative votes.

The Far Right will whine a little bit for the next 48 hours....

then get distracted by some Bright Shiny Object (like bashing CNBC) and forget how much they opposed Ryan.

To me, that's a "no confidence vote" on Webster.

The budget deal Boehner cut defanged the factions of the Republican House caucus that wanted to use the debt limit as a bargaining chip or to simply cause a technical default on the mistaken belief that it wouldn't matter or would even be beneficial.

The Republicans seem to be trying to demonstrate that they can govern the unruly GOP House caucus. I would say that's probably an establishment idea rather something come up by the flame throwers.
    Thanks from GordonGecko and BDBoop

It was pretty obvious that Boehner got that post-2017 budget deal passed so that Ryan wouldn't have to deal with the Crazies as much.

    TNVolunteer73 said "BETTER."

    "BETTER" does not mean "DIFFERENT...."

Although....both are somewhat subjective concepts, particularly at this point and time...
