GOP chair probes if Cruz unveiled classified info during debate

A key Senate Republican is looking into if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) discussed classified information during Tuesday night's Republican presidential debate.

"I'm having my staff look at the transcripts of the debate right now," Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, told reporters. "Any time you deal with numbers... the question is 'is that classified or not' or is there an open source reference to it."

The Texas senator raised eyebrows during an exchange with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) over the National Security Agency's surveillance program, when he said that the old program covered "20 or 30 percent of phone numbers" while the new program covers roughly 100 percent.

INTEL Chairman (a REP) probing if CRUZ disclosed CLASSIFIED info last night...

I guess CLASSIFIED DATA being possibly disclosed if you are a REPUBLICAN doesn't matter if you are running for PRES and trying to take down your opponent. Passing it on to 30 or 40 million Americans and any TERRORIST with a television or live streaming is 'fair game'.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr has asked his staff to look into whether Sen. Ted Cruz disclosed classified information during Tuesday night’s GOP presidential debate in Las Vegas, the North Carolina Republican told reporters Wednesday.

“The question had been raised, therefore I asked [Intelligence Committee staff] to look at it and see if there was any validity to it,” Burr said Wednesday. “Anytime you deal with numbers and I think it dealt with numbers, the question is, is that classified or not?”

During the Tuesday debate, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) seemed to imply that Cruz revealed classified information during a testy exchange on government surveillance powers and when Cruz was disputing Rubio’s attacks on the Texas senator’s national security credentials.
“And the reason is simple,” Cruz said. “What he knows is that the old prog

Despite Burr being a Republican....no doubt some Rightwing PHer will try to blame this on Democrats...

or...more likely...try to change the subject.

I think it's an interesting topic, to be honest. I caught the exchange last night where Rubio alluded to oversharing. I suspect this is an "Establishment GOP" shot at Cruz. Not sure if it will have legs.

Could be something they'll "hold in reserve"...to take out Cruz if he moves ahead in the wake of a Trump Implosion.

The RNC is still trying to make sure Rubio is the Nominee.

It's funny all the Hillary attacks by the Right....that could easily be used against Ted Cruz.

And most of the Right doesn't even realize it. That's why after Trump?.....Hillary's favorite choice for GOP Nom....is Tailgunner Ted.
