Michigan Tea Partiers Hit With Felony Charges For Botched Cover-Up Of Affair

Former Michigan state representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat were hit with felony charges on Friday for their messy cover up of an extramarital affair last year, the Detroit News reported.

Attorney General Bill Schuette charged both former GOP lawmakers, who served on the state House Ethics Committee, for allegedly lying to state officials about the nature of their relationship and their efforts to conceal it.

Courser could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted on all four counts against him, while Gamrat could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years, according to the report.

Wouldn't that have been funny if Bill Clinton received 10-30 years for his affair?

If they broke the law, as elected officials, I hope they get the full weight of the law.

Seems a bit harsh to me. They should both lose their jobs. I don't see what's gained by incarcerating them. It will cost the taxpayers about $100,000 per year to keep them in prison.

They are TEA Party, Small Government types, the are hated by Establishment Republicans and Democrats alike.

The lady also allowed her signature to be forged. But, it was with consent, so I don't see the big deal in today's age of electronic signatures.
