Donald Trump gets called out for his offensive "Pocahontas" remark

This afternoon at a press conference in Bismarck, North Dakota after officially clinching the GOP Presidential nomination, Donald Trump defamed Senator and VP shortlist contender Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas”.

A reporter by the name of Nicole Robertson correctly took offense to that, only for Lyin’ Donald to repeat the word when confronted by the reporter.

    Alan Smith at Business Insider:

Donald Trump again attacked Elizabeth Warren on Thursday, calling her "Pocahontas" during a press conference in North Dakota and prompting pushback from a person identified as a reporter.

"That's very offensive," the person shouted.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that," Trump said.

"Pocahontas? Is that what you said? Elizabeth Warren?" he said.

He said he hits back at the Massachusetts senator because "she tweets a lot about" him.

I was kinda wondering what Native American's would think of Trump doing this? What I find most disturbing is the reaction to him doing it during this press conference. Everyone associated with his campaign seemed to think it was funny. Similarly, the media has been treating it with indifference. It's a completely different response than when Scott Brown questioned her heritage.

“The Cherokee Nation is disappointed in and denounces the disrespectful actions of staffers and supporters of Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown. The conduct of these individuals goes far beyond what is appropriate and proper in political discourse. The use of stereotypical ‘war whoop chants’ and ‘tomahawk chops’ are offensive and downright racist,” said Bill John Baker, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, in a statement. “The individuals involved in this unfortunate incident are high ranking staffers in both the senate office and the Brown campaign. A campaign that would allow and condone such offensive and racist behavior must be called to task for their actions.”

What's concerning is that now the media is treating it like it's the new "normal". Instead, focusing on things like Hillary Clinton's emails. As if there's really anything new that was revealed by the IG report. The Native American community deserves better than this from a major national political party nominee. We all do. I applaud my sista Ms. Nicole Robertson for being courageous enough to call Trump out. I can't imagine what it must have been like being there at a press conference with people laughing at her heritage being mocked.

Trump is a thin-skinned bully. I hope Warren leans in. He's going to make lots of errors like this. The taco salad thing. Using offensive references about Native Americans in states like New Mexico and North Dakota. The guy's got no filter nor sense of propriety. It's not like people haven't told him to tone it down.

You can afford to be unsympathetic. You aren't running for president. Trump, on the other hand, looks like he's going to prove why it is that politicians are....politic.

Yes, we know you are a Trumpaloompa. Nothing he says, no matter how offensive, will lead you to condemn him. You will merely try to parse what he said into something else and pretend that the rest of us didn't hear what we actually heard...

It wasn't an attack based on her race. It was an attack based on her attempt to pretend she was a native American.

Ok, I have a created a generic response for posters like you. Here it goes:

I am going to have to ask that you keep your comments focused on the topic rather than me as an individual. Under normal circumstances I would be only happy to defend myself. But it is against the rules on this forum to attack others personally so I would prefer not to engage in that kind of debate. So for now on I am simply going to place posters who choose to get personal with their remarks on my ignore list.

So please stick to the topic itself and not me personally. Otherwise, I am going to have to add you to my ignore list so as to avoid being drawn into that kind of debate.

Refer to my signature below as to a list of posters I have on ignore. This is intended to save them the trouble of commenting on my posts in the future.

    Thanks.

yeah, guess you missed the part in the OP where the Cherokee Nation called the criticisms of Warren on the basis of her heritage "downright racist". And, what about that reporter? Did she deserved to be subjected to her heritage being mocked during a nationally televised press conference?
