I think most people understand that to be the additional border security will be paid for by placing a tariff on Mexican imports.

And WHO will be paying those tariffs? America's lower and middle class citizens, who will find that the price of almost everything they buy is suddenly higher, with NO compensating wage increases. Nice. Let's make sure the standard of living for our poorest citizens PLUMMETS.

President Trump has already addressed how this will go down, starting with tariffs, and taxes. Trade negotiations will be following soon.

You have that wrong. Mexico will be paying the tariffs to send their goods here.

Actually the tariff would be shared between producers and consumers based on the relative elasticity of supply and demand, ie producers would try to get consumers to pay it and consumers will try to get producers to eat it and they will meet somewhere in the middle.

    Here is what Trump said.

Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options]. We will not be taken advantage of anymore.
    Thanks from Bronwyn

I agree that they feel this way and are sure of it. I think Mexican nationals will end up footing that bill when they send money home if their government doesn't. I am not at all surprised, though, that their government is saying this.
