Moscow Anglo-American School closed by Russian authorities

Among other measures. They are retaliating for Obama's earlier expulsion of Russian diplomats:

Russia isn't expected to waste any time in retaliating to fresh sanctions imposed by President Obama's administration, potentially resulting in a quid pro quo game of diplomatic punishment.

Moscow appears to have already taken action. CNN reported late on Thursday that Russian authorities ordered the shutdown of the Anglo-American School of Moscow, which primarily serves children of Western embassy personnel, as well as the closure of a U.S. embassy vacation house in Serebryany Bor, near Moscow.

Anyhow, this will be my last thread here for awhile. I have decided to sign off for a bit, to spend the New Year with my family and to think about some things (see thread in Lounge).

    Happy NY to all

    Happy New Year, TM.

Funny thing about this move is that it will annoy a lot more than just Americans. That school serves lots of diplomats' children--anyone who wants their kids educated in English, which is quite a number of countries these days. And it may change the character of the sorts of diplomatic assignments that are made to Moscow. I'm thinking that the presence of that school made it possible for diplomatic staff to bring their families to Russia. Now they may have to be separated from their families in order to do their jobs, which will change the sorts of people who will happily serve there.

Bottom line, it's an unfriendly move that affects their relationships well-beyond the US.

And that the best Vlad came up with in the last few hours ? Taking it out on the kids ?
That Trump/Putin team is really something. So petty.
