Trudeau re-jigs cabinet - sets table for Trump vs China

This article lays it out really well.

Trudeau tries to craft sturdier cabinet to withstand Trump: Chris Hall - Politics - CBC News

Huge shake up in Ottawa today, as Trudeau ousts some party stalwarts and goes all-offense on the new US administration.

You have to hand it to Trump. He certainly gets attention. This is the first-time I've ever seen the government specifically tailor cabinet to deal with a foreign country.

In short, the French speaking intellectuals are now forcibly retired. The glitzy, young trade negotiator who lives and breathes globalism is in Foreign Affairs (responsible for any NAFTA or Auto pact negotiations), and most importantly, the Beijing embassy has been given an ambassador from the PM inner circle instead of a civil servant. An honour that has only ever been given to Washington, London and Paris - and something the Chinese have been asking for for generations.

The result. Economic negotiators now run Ottawa, specifically to deal with Trump, and Chinese trade is being elevated to a national priority - specifically to leverage Trump.

    Trump Trump Trump

Trump has them nervous and that's a good thing.

Their gravy train is about to come to a screeching halt.

It'll come to a screeching halt for about 10 seconds, then reroute to China. To sell them our gravy.

    Uh huh.

Freshwater export between Canada and the US currently takes place at a small scale, mostly as bottled water exports.

Yeah, I don't think we will suffer to much without your bottled water.

    lol

The bulk export of water is currently prohibited - both by Ottawa and by the terms of NAFTA and other treaties.

And the reason us a moral one. It's not 'right' to treat life's necessities as a commodity.

Ie - because we have trade agreements we GIVE you access to fresh water.

Places like Chicago rely on it for their heavy industry.

But if those agreements aren't worth anything anymore and it's each man for himself, putting their own workers first, then this may have to be revisited as the effects of climate change take an increasing toll on places like California, Utah, Texas, etc.

I was merely correcting Jacobfitcher's post.

Did you know that the new FM, Chrystia Freeland (who, btw, is of Ukrainian heritage), is BANNED from Russia, like, literally, persona non grata, over all her criticism of Putin, about Crimea and other stuff: Chrystia Freeland takes over Foreign Affairs as Trudeau shuffles cabinet

She actually had spoke out agaibst the Russian gov-t all the way back in the 90s, over the conduct of their forces in Chechnya: ?G7 Pressed on Chechnya?, Chrystia Freeland, The Financial Times (UK), Moscow, 19 April 1996 (in English). | Speaking Out Case Studies - Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) - International Medical Humanitarian Organisation

She interviewed Putin himself, in 2000, as she mentions here: Chrystia Freeland: My Ukraine, and Putin’s big lie

Fascinating lady. Will make an interesting FM, for sure lol

She also speaks Russian. I don't know how fluently.

I'd never heard of her until the Europe free trade speeches, but she also gets glowing reviews on her book, "Plutocrats: the Rise of the New, Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else"

I can't wait till Trump grabs her pussy and asks her for a coffee.

Being banned from Russia won't matter too much.

No Canadian Ministers will be going to Russia for quite some time anyway, I don't think.

And there ain't gonna be any "G8+1" meetings anytime soon.

However - I bet she'll be visiting the troops in Latvia and Poland etc. Just to piss Vladimir off.
    Thanks from The Man
