While I was not President Obama's biggest fan, when he was criticized for drone attacks, I totally supported him and expressed my support many times. Similarly, when and if President Trump orders attacks on known ISIS targets, he will have my total support as well. In this instance, if a Mosque was hit, I do not think it was specifically targeted, it most likely was close to the target. Even then, I find it difficult to accept because our weapons systems are rather accurate. No one wants to see civilians killed, but unfortunately in past conflicts, current conflicts and future conflicts it has happened, is happening and will continue to happen. ISIS is not only a threat to our nation but the world as well and it must be destroyed. The effort required to do so, at times, ain't gonna be pretty. Remember, war is hell and as General MacArthur said, the single purpose of our military is to kill more of them than they kill of us. Should we make every appropriate effort to minimize the endangerment to civilians, most assuredly, but in war, all wars, civilian casualties are an unfortunate reality.

Since he won't show his tax or private records I doubt we will ever know will we? Will Trumpie's babies ever ask for the basic docs from him that all presidents in my adult lifetime have shown? I doubt it.

I wasn't crazy about Obama's drone strikes and other bombing, but at least he was careful about it. He did his best (it seems) to avoid killing innocents, which is a bad idea long term. Even so, he still managed to bomb a Doctors without Borders hospital--something international agencies called a war crime.

Trump's strategy is much more muscular, and we have to accept that civilian casualties will be part of the fallout. Trump doesn't probably care--they're all Muslims anyway. And many in this forum don't seem to care either.

So does anyone have anything to say about the air strike? Any actual information about what happened? If Trump ordered the military to bomb a mosque packed with civilians, that would be a war crime, wouldn't it? We would have to try him and the actors. If he didn't order that, then why does the thread title say he did? Do we even know what happened yet? The latest I can see is still the U.S. denying targeting the mosque, while evidence seems to be emerging that the mosque was hit.

    Is this relevant?

I guess we'll see. Turkey calls it a war crime. Missing a target and hitting a mosque isn't a war crime, though. Might be hard to prove otherwise.

Perhaps we should be patient. From the OP:
"We did not target, nor did we strike a mosque. We targeted an al-Qaeda gathering across the street from a mosque. The mosque does not appear to be damaged following the strike," spokesperson Major Josh T Jaques told The Independent.

"We are aware of the reports of civilian casualties and we are looking into it," he added.
That suggests there will be more information forthcoming.

If Obama had taken his JV Team seriously instead of ignoring them for 2 years while they grew in strength, then pussyfooting around instead of destroying them, maybe Trump wouldn't have to finish the job Obama should have finished.
