Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! Tuesday Tweet from the POTUS

I know that there are some here who do not follow the president on Twitter. About 15 minutes ago, he tweeted: "Big announcement by Ford today. Major investment to be made in three Michigan plants. Car companies coming back to U.S. JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!" In just 15 minutes it has been retweeted over 2100 times. It has had over 7900 likes. It has had over 2000 replies. There is little doubt that it is a popular Twitter account. If Ford is announcing expanding three plants in the USA and bringing some models currently assembled in Mexico back to Michigan, that is big news.

Ford Motor Co. will announce investments in three of its Michigan manufacturing plants Tuesday morning, according to three sources familiar with the automaker’s plans.

The Dearborn-based automaker will announce investments at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Flat Rock Assembly Plant and its Romeo Engine Plant, according to the sources who agreed to speak only on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information. It is unclear how many jobs will be created, or the total dollar amount. However, one of the sources characterized the investments as “significant.” A promised $700 million investment at the Michigan Assembly Plant was part of the 2015 Ford-United Auto Workers contract.

Tuesday’s investment announcement comes less than two weeks after President Donald Trump pushed auto executives for more U.S. jobs and new manufacturing plants in the U.S. during a stop in Ypsilanti Township. Trump hinted then that a big auto industry announcement was coming last week, though it did not appear to happen. It’s unclear if Ford’s announcement is the same news teased by Trump.

Ford is on Tuesday’s Michigan Strategic Fund meeting agenda for business growth and investments, and likely will receive state incentives.

If Trump has a hand in negotiating the deal..as we have seen he's got a bad habit of screwing up his deals with just a few tweets..i'll wait until it actually happens before Trump gets any credit for making it happen..so far all we've seen is the Art Of The Fail..no reason to believe that it going to all the sudden change.
    Thanks from Friday13

The Detroit News is fine but after spending my whole life connected to the Auto Industry I am smart enough to know the Industry does not decide in a couple of months to do things.

It takes a huge amount of Design, planning,Engineering to put a product or any type of building in place. It takes years.

    Do not be so naive.

Trump has nothing to do with any part of this. Ford did not get to where they are by listening to a blow hard con man. They make business decisions.

Prior to the election Ford had announced that it was moving the small car production to Mexico. Since then it has scrapped plans to build a new plant in Mexico and it seems is on the cusp of announcing more jobs, more assembly in Michigan. I know that it really hurts for some to give any credit to President Trump but if this trend continues over the next four years, it will be good for Republicans in 2020.

Trump had nothing to do with Ford's decision. Supply and demand!

Frankly,I am surprised a business person would follow a tweet. For some one so good on computers.

I seldom post on tweet and those who do can post anything. And do.
