Seems like there was a lot less questioning about who did it this time. Maybe that's because it was more obvious, but I certainly never heard what made it obvious.
Agree. Although I have to say last week here on the forum, anyone who denied or questioned Assad had anything to do with it was called a Russian sympathizer or a friend of Putin. So at the outset, one must either be a lover of Russia or a Trump lover. Its stuff like that where we go off half cocked and start wars all over the place because we don't want to look like we support Russia. Some are seeing Russia in everything we do and that's not good if its lands us in another war to prove we don't support them. In that case it is over politicized.

Also, wouldn't be suprised if it was Putin trying to silence all the evidence coming about him and Trump, and even Trumps response was to distract and put off the message of "see, we aren't friendly wiht Russia". All could be a ploy.

I just don't get what Assad gets out of doing such a thing and to get evne more scrutiny on his leadership
One theory I have speculated on is that Assad and Putin knew this wouldn't lead to outright war but to some relatively innocuous (made more innocuous by warning Putin who warned Assad) retaliation. Which then furthers the value to Assad of having Putin as an ally and making Putin more of a buddy to the parts of the ME not allied with the US.

I can definitely see ISIS involved as they know the west would knee jerk and blame Assad and then try to force him out like we did in Iraq and Libya. What happens then? Why a vacuum where ISIS leadership moves in. They certainly had motive here.

Progressive Tulsi Gabbard has taken quite a bit of heat over the last week for saying she didn't think Assad was responsible. She even had to come out and explain herself.

Because he got away with it in the past?

The "Red Line" didn't mean squat, remember?
