If being "off" was a disqualifier, the entire Freedom Caucus would be kicked out of the House.

No big deal, I just got that vibe from him watching him speak. Thing is, can he win the runoff? The odds are against him.

You had better hope that a Democrat cant win a bright red gerrymandered district in Georgia, because there are dozens of purple districts up for grabs next year and a wave election could carry the House. All Trump needs to do is piss off a few million more moderates and independents, and he is working feverishly to do just that. Check the 2006 elections for how it works...

Sanders is doing the same thing in Virginia with the governors race. He has endorsed Perriello while the DNC and other prominent democrats have endorsed Northram. Now some are worried the divide will let the GOP win.

So what if he said he doesn't know. Maybe, and I know this is shocking to some people, but he doesn't actually know, and was being honest. I don't know if Ossoff is a "progressive" (or whatever that overused word is supposed to actually mean) but I do know he's trying to win in Georgia. Exactly how "progressive" can you even expect him to be?

I know in the world where people don't want politicians to give honest answers, it's worth a shitifit the second someone doesn't march in lockstep and sing the praises of people they don't know anything about just because that's the party line, but give me a break. People keep saying what a washed up has been Sanders is, but they jump on here to the second he makes some innocuous comment. Pick a side. Either you don't care what he thinks, or you think we need to hear about it every time he answers a question. Which is it?

I have two points about this. First I agree democrats need to decide what to do with Bernie. They either have to "adopt" him and let him do what he does or they need to shut him down and now. They cant have it both ways. Apparently Perez feels the need to bring him around everywhere he goes as they have been inseparable so it looks like Bernie will be rallying lots more. Now if the dems are successful in 2018, Bernie is going to get the credit. If not Perez is going to be out of a job.

My second point is that Bernie does have to play ball to an extent here. Does he want democrats to win or republicans? The primary is over in GA and Ossoff won for the democrats. Bernie needs to support him as the people have spoken. Not every state is going to go to progressives. Some will be more conservative dems or blue dogs. Its just going to be that way and Bernie needs to accept it. I know in Vermont from having lived there that they do politics differently and they do a lot of write in votes and protest votes but that doesn't work everywhere.

Well, I just wish he would not do things to hurt Democrats. As Baj points out, some places will go for a moderate Dem but not an uber progressive one - whether he or I like it or not. And a moderate Dem is better than a Republican.

The problem Bernie has is that he demands purity. Which is impossible in politics. So when he says stuff like this or comes out and supports a dem that the party doesn't, he doesn't realize that those "purists" look at it as a "my way or the highway" thing. So if the guy or gal Bernie endorses doesn't win the primary, they will sit home. We saw that in 2016. I honestly don't think Bernie sees this or understands it as he will always win in Vermont as he gets over 80% of the vote. So he can say whatever he desires and in the end, he goes home to a safe seat with no worries. He doesn't see the struggle other politicians might be having. Like claiming Joe Manchin needs to go in WVA. No progressive can win there. So its not wise to primary Manchin.

But now that Tom Perez has adopted Bernie and he is the most popular politician, they cant just cast him aside now. Its risky. I also read about how those who support Bernie don't believe the Russian interference thing either. Very bad optics there and divisive.

Bernie's the most popular politician in US. Favorability at 58% among Women.
