Trump's Middle East visit: What to expect

Donald Trump's Middle East visit: What to expect | USA News | Al Jazeera

"You have a president who clearly, despite many negative comments he's made about Saudi Arabia, is treating them as an ally. The optics will be very good," said Aaron David Miller, a Middle East analyst at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars in Washington DC.

Trump will hold a separate session with leaders of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council to discuss the civil war in Syria and potential "de-escalation zones" to provide safe areas for civilians.
The US president will lunch with 56 invited Arab and Muslim leaders to discuss combating "extremism" and cracking down on illicit financing of armed groups, according to the White House.

Trump will not come away empty-handed. The president expects to ink a $100bn arms sale with Saudi Arabia. Several leading American CEOs from companies will be meeting with Saudi counterparts to discuss potential investments in the kingdom's privatisation drive, Saudi Vision 2030.

Is this arms sale with Saudi Arabia a good thing??

The image of Trump hobnobbing with Saudi will demonstrate for anyone who's paying attention how much of a fraud he really is. No one is more responsible for the corruption of Islam and for the sponsorship of dangerous religious schools where future terrorist leaders have been inspired. The less we have to do with Saudi in all circumstances, the better. One of Obama's great failings in sustaining this awful relationship. Trump talks a big game on radical Islam but he's about to go suck some serious jihadist cock.

And listen, I lived with Saudi citizens for more than a year. They're good people. But their government is as corrupt as hell and dependent entirely on their financial support for some incredibly problematic organizations to placate the fire eaters, and they know it too.

Saudi is the home of most of the 9/11 terrorists and most of the leadership of terrorist groups around the planet. Wahhabism is the most radical of the Islamic sects by far.

Oh why don't you just face facts? Trump conned the RW rubes and hicks with all his talk of "draining the swamp' and how he was a "tough guy" on ISLAM. It was like taking candy from a baby for an experienced con artist like Trump.

    "So what?"...........
What? Have the Saudi's suddenly STOPPED supporting the Wahhabis? Suddenly their human rights record is spotless? NOW they are NOT conservative Muslims?
NOW they are just "customers" for nice expensive American weapons?

Dude, The Brits last invaded us just under 200 fucking years ago. That is SO fucking pitifully lame, even for a lame-ass troll like you.

    What do I expect?

A debacle. Nothing short of a complete debacle.

While he gets thoroughly owned by the Saudi's, turned into their little bitch, propping up their regime and unknowingly supporting the crown prince's ulterior motives, I also expect him to fail with Israel on every level, alternatively not being aware of what is Jerusalem and its meaning, endorsing Israel abuses while vowing to work for peace.

Ever see An Idiot Abroad? I think it will be like that, only on a diplomatic level where every country manages to get pissed off rather than laugh.
    Thanks from OldGaffer
