He actually isn't. He is a registered republican who also supported GWBush. But he did vote for Obama. So I suppose that makes him a moderate.

But at this point, I feel like I can always say "stranger things have happened."
Saw a clip of him recently talking about politics and how he would love to run "someday" and likely would prefer to be an independent. So that doesn't necessarily mean 2020 and running as an independent is fairly dangerous these days.

Am wondering now if we will see more celebrities running for president now or was it a one time thing? They must figure if Trump can do it, so can I? Do Americans now feel the President is just a celebrity or will we go back to traditional politicians? I know Michael Moore was trying to convince either Oprah or Tom Hanks to run on the democratic ticket in 2020. I do think a lot of Americans would vote for a well known celebrity.

Mark Cuban was on tv earlier this morning and said he would gladly join an independent ticket with the Rock for president. Imagine the impact of those two running as independents?

He wasn't bad in Escape to Witch Mountain. The movie itself was bad because the script was terrible.

Reminds me of Doc Brown from Back to the Future: "No wonder your president's an actor; he has to look good on television."

(Referring to Reagan, for those too young to remember.)

Americans also do tend to have an unhealthy view of celebrity. The amount of people that "friend" or "follow" everything they do on social media these days amounts to a great deal of time. I would imagine quite a few celebrities could get elected fairly easily. Someone posted a link here a year or so ago about professional athletes getting into politics in the areas where they performed. They had a 100% track record of getting elected. I know silly polls here in New England have Tom Brady getting elected to anything he wants! lol
    Thanks from Ian Jeffrey

GQ's Caity Weaver finds out: is the Rock meant for higher office? ... These days, he tells me, he's registered as an independent.

Certainly enough to win if you bring in a third party or create doubt. Maine's LePage got re-elected with less than a 20% approval rating. Twice.
