That was because Perot had opened the door for him and people felt initially dissatisfied with the situation, not because of any particular action on Clinton's part. His political troubles came one year into it. 1993 America was one where a three-party future --- or at least a future where a third-wheel candidate would suddenly be able to upset the apple cart (if properly supported) --- seemed to be a distinct possibility.
