Russians hacked US voting systems just before election

Russian intelligence agents hacked a U.S. voting systems manufacturer in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election, according to a National Security Agency investigation report leaked to The Intercept.

The Intercept reported Monday that the NSA believes hackers used that breach to obtain information used to spearphish its customers. The report, marked top secret and only to be shared with the "Five Eyes" nations (Canada, Britain, New Zealand and Australia), claims the Russian intelligence agency GRU targeted more than 120 email addresses associated with local government organizations, which it speculates were taken from the earlier hack.

The news comes as former FBI Director James Comey is set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee this week amid multiple ongoing probes into the Kremlin's interference in last year's vote. The U.S. intelligence committee believes Moscow hacked multiple groups with the intention of helping to elect President Trump.

The report does not claim that voting machines were hacked, a once-popular post-election theory from Democrats, nor does it state whether the information pertaining to the voting systems could be used to hack those systems.

Whoa.....so Russia was really serious about "hacking" our election. Even if they failed to hack the voting machines.

    I like this part

The report,*marked top secret and only to be shared with the "Five Eyes" nations (Canada, Britain, New Zealand and Australia),
And apparently The Hill so that would be 6.

Also the name of the company hacked was redacted but these guys pieced together who it was and released it.

You know it was redacted for their protection.

They are doing exactly what they are criticizing Russia for doing.

So here is a confidential report with secret information and not only do they make the report public but they expose the secret information in it without any regards for those it might affect.

Well the report is real - and the leaker has just been arrested (just saw that on Twitter). Which I think is warranted considering the info was top secret.

Still this shows the lengths the Russian's went to - which is a different topic than the actual leak.

I will continue to repeat this again since we first started hearing this crap. I doubt we will ever know for sure. How in the hell do we know they didn't 'tinker around the edges'? Unless every county or state's voting equipment (electronic is obviously the most susceptible) has had some type of 'forensic diagnostics' done on it, we DON'T KNOW!

I doubt very seriously anyone wants to know. If they are RED COUNTIES, not a fucking chance in hell they'll look. BLUE COUNTIES, money or 'shame' would preclude them from doing. If they make it out of the county level, will 'opposite party' legislatures and governors stop it dead in its tracks?

I would hope IF there are any truly suspicious "the numbers didn't seem right" counties out there, I would pray election personnel would have the balls to dig down and have things checked out!

I trust the NSA when they say that no machines were affected. After all, he only won by 77,000 votes in the 3 critical states.

The title of the thread doesn't match the story again.

    Voting systems were not hacked.

It is now on MSNBC. Pete Williams and Isakoff. They hacked the voting machine software.

Why would you say they did not hack the voting machines? And,why wasn't the voting public notified.

They arrested the woman who leaked it! What the hell? Sorry my language is deteriorating, but if I said what I was really thinking,uh,oh well.

The concrete examples of Russian's hacking will continue to dribble out.
I'd like to know how they used Facebook, etc. to disseminate their
garbage against Hillary. I understand they needed help from Americans
    to identify the marks.
    Thanks from Friday13
