Let's say that President Trump rides the wave, or chills. Then Seattle gets hit with a nuclear bomb or worse, the entire West Coast gets hit with an EMP from a crude nuclear device detonated above the atmosphere. What if South Korea, with US forces is hit by a nuclear bomb? And we did nothing? It's a bad position for a president to be in. History will record him as a war monger if he strikes North Korea first, but if we wait, calling Kim Jung Un's bluff and he devastates part of our country, history records him as the person that let the US get attacked.

You can't hit them first, it would set a precedent we don't need in the world.

NK is not stupid, they realize what will happen if they launch first so the possibility of that is almost zero.

They also know they could take a huge chunk of South Korea but they can't hold it for very long, just until we get enough forces there to take it back.

They really have no options so what Trump should do is simply sit back, play tough, and match them comment for comment and not back down.

They are not going to do anything and acting like we are afraid of them does nothing to help the problem.

Trump should be laughing at them and calling their pretend leader a little pussy every chance he gets.

This is exactly what Trump should be doing:

The problem is that North Korea may not know that. While there is no doubt that we could reduce that third world country to glowing rubble with the weaponry at our command, do we have the resolve to do it? Kim Jung Un wants North Korea to be taken seriously as a nuclear player. Look at it like the new inmate who walks into the prison yard and swings on the biggest, baddest bully in the place. He knows he isn't going to win but everyone is going to respect that he is not afraid.

North Korea is an example of a nearly failed state. I saw a post in a thread on this forum once where someone posted a night photo from space of the Korean Peninsula. South Korea was nearly covered with light. Street lights, homes, factories, etc. North Korea had a couple areas with some light and a few pin pricks of light elsewhere but was mostly dark.

Sanctions against North Korea in hopes of isolating the nation to get it to abandon its hopes of becoming a nuclear power. These have not worked. European Union imposed sanctions in 2006. South Korea imposed sanctions in 2010. Japan and the USA imposed sanctions in 2016. One reason that these have not worked is because China and Russia, who share borders with North Korea have not joined these sanctions or this condemnation.

At some point, this rogue state is going to strike somewhere to show the world that it can. Will it be Japan? Will it be South Korea? Will it be the west coast of the USA? That is something that we do not know at this time. If they did launch an attack on the USA would we be able to strike back? Keep in mind that this country has some powerful neighbors that are not exactly our friends. The only country on the planet to have used an atomic weapon in war, is the United States. That was 1945. Look at how we have waged war since. We don't target civilians. A nuclear device would kill a lot of civilians.

China should be ordering North Korea to chill and backing it up with an ultimatum.

Does China want North Korea to chill? China has not put any sanctions upon them. Truthfully, China may outwardly say that they are unhappy about it but as long as that sucker is pointed east, do they care?

Trump and Kim Jong Un are like a couple of chimpanzees charging, and shaking branches at each other.

Actually NK is extremely successful in what they want to be.

It could be argued that they have produced the most successful system in the world.

Not for taking care of people of course but as far as implementation of what they want that state to be.

And I highly doubt lil' kim is running anything over there, I am sure the military assumed control once his father died, he is nothing but a figurehead for the people with little to no actual power.

All their warmonger talk is little more than propaganda for their people, they know what will happen if they act on it. There is absolutely no way they come out ahead if they initiate military action.

Whether that is from them being nuked or simply stopped with conventional means they cannot win in any scenario and it doesn't take a genius to know that.

And that's about as far as it will ever get.

Rather boring sabre rattling if you ask me.
