U.S. tells North Korea it is prepared to go to war

President Donald J Trump is not a war hawk. Truthfully, while Pyongyang claims it can hit anywhere, the estimates are more likely that it can hit the west coast of the United States or Alaska.
I do not want a war, especially not a war that we fight with rules that drag the war out for a decade or more. However, right now we have the leader of a third world country that could strike our country with a nuclear weapon. If that doesn't put pause in your thought pattern, nothing will. Put aside your hatred of President Trump for a minute. What would you like him to do? Sanctions are not stopping this threat. Do we hold Pyongyang at arm's length and only fire if fired upon? Is this a case where we can wait until someone else makes the first strike? What do you tell the families of those dead if we do nothing and he launches a nuclear weapon, no matter how crude?

U.S. tells North Korea it is prepared to go to war

The U.S. warned North Korea that it is ready to fight if provoked, as Pyongyang claimed another weapons-development breakthrough following its launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile a day earlier.

The regime, having demonstrated its capacity to reach the U.S. with a missile, on Wednesday touted another achievement of the test launch: It claimed that its missile warhead--the forward section, which carries the explosive--can withstand the extreme heat and pressure of re-entering the earth's atmosphere.

If true--the claim couldn't be independently verified--that would clear another hurdle in developing a nuclear-tipped missile that can reach American cities.

As tensions between Washington and Pyongyang rose, Gen. Vincent Brooks, the top American military commander in South Korea, said in a statement Wednesday that the U.S. and South Korea are prepared to go to war with the North if given the order.

I expect him to listen to partners in the Asian corridor, he isn't, China is telling the US, South Korea and North Korea to chill; unless you are pre-disposed to believing the only humans on earth are Americans, and to be quite sure, we are 4% of the total population, it's good advice.

Okay, are you willing to "chill"? Is that what you advise President Trump to do? Chill? There is a specific threat to Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California. Should those people get videos on how to deal with fallout? Practice air raids, while we chill? You said that it is good advice. If he takes that advice, and "chills" then the country gets hit will you own it or claim he failed to protect us?

Hold on, it is on many other sources as well. The source doesn't change the topic. Business is effected by the threat of war.

The Washington Post, this morning has an interesting story in the National section. Yes, it is as usual a hit job on Trump. But the truth is, does anyone have a plan for North Korea? North Korea has been under sanctions for several years.

Trump has never had a plan for dealing with North Korea

We forget sometimes that President Trump’s political rhetoric was forged not over years of policymaking or in discussions with experts on foreign policy and domestic issues, but in weekly phone interviews with “Fox and Friends.” Before he declared his candidacy, the real estate developer and TV personality would appear on the program every Monday morning, weighing in on the issues of the day as the hosts offered their now-familiar lack of criticism of his musings.

On April 8, 2013, for example, Trump called in to discuss a variety of subjects: his show, “Celebrity Apprentice,” WrestleMania — oh, and North Korea.

Host Steve Doocy broached that subject by noting that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un might soon test a nuclear weapon “or do something dopey like that” — but that China might actually be starting to put pressure on the rogue nation.

“Well, I think China has total control over the situation,” Trump responded. North Korea “wouldn’t exist for a month without China. And I think China, frankly, as you know — and I’ve been saying it for a long time, and people are starting to see that I’m right — China is not our friend.”

Okay, but what should be done? Right now, we have Kim Jung Un, who hates the United States with a new toy. He just tested this new toy, so he knows that he works. Do we keep those sanctions that have worked so well upon him and hope that he doesn't kill a city on our west coast? Where do we go from here?
