I think that it is important to distinguish the difference between a thriving economy and social discourse. The economy could be better, but we are soon coming to a tipping point, where the old economic theories and measurables, will give way to a new age of both economic freedom and very little physical labor. Almost every mechanical job or physically demanding/dangerous activity will be replaced by automation.

While people will be safer and have far more comfortable lives, much fewer people will be employed due to a lack of jobs. We will be forced to implement a certain amount of socialist policies in order to accommodate these coming strange times.

Sad. But true.
Well lets hope they drop the corporate tax rate this time. I am all for keeping work here in America and to do that we need to make business here more doable .

    NOT in 2009.

And you are VERY confused by that, since it doesn't fit your deep psychological need to blame everything on Obama.

The idea of a 'basic income' is going to get more and more attention. But right now, the unemployment rate is remarkably LOW. If automation is going to cut a wide swathe through the labor force, it really has NOT done so, at least not yet. Most folks who have ANYTHING on the ball can find a job.

I don't disagree. The next twenty years are going to be a WILD roller coaster ride. I think we are going to see more technological change in the next twenty years than we've seen in the past sixty. Which is roughly my entire lifetime.

And, by the way, 36 years ago today, IBM introduced their first personal computer, firmly launching the Age of Personal Computers. [Before IBM put their stamp of approval on the whole idea, it was the province of uber-geeky hobbyists.]

So condone the incompetence of Obama who had the slowest economic recovery since the great depression and Obama being only the second president not to have one year of GDP during his presidency. the other president that had that was Hoover during the great depression. The more you spew the lies and take what happened out of context the more you show you can never say anything negative about Obama

The democrats don't want to work with Trump because they are mad they aren't in power.
As has been pointed out, trump inherited a growing economy and a stock market that had more than doubled. He has a low rating because most educated people realize that he is done really nothing for the economy that has been going up for years and he is a loose cannon and a narcissistic buffoon. Anyone who would come in as president would have the same economy
