Beijing warns Pyongyang: You?re on your own if you go after the United States

“China should also make clear that if North Korea launches missiles that threaten U.S. soil first and the U.S. retaliates, China will stay neutral,” it added. “If the U.S. and South Korea carry out strikes and try to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political pattern of the Korean Peninsula, China will prevent them from doing so.”*
So, if NK did happen to launch on Guam... China is not a sticking point. My guess, NK pretends they never said that and continue to threaten, but with less specific threats.

So many layers to this one to discuss.

I will start with wondering how much Trumps threats of retaliation played a part in their decision.

I don't recall them saying this under Obama.

But if WE, America, strike first, sounds like we'll be in a war with China. That's the OTHER part of what they said. That needs to be paid attention to, as well.

Well we are following the Bush Doctrine.

I am sure that Russia, and we've already heard about it, is talking to China and Russia, Japan and everyone else in the area.

I am pretty impressed with Trump on this.

The Bush Doctrine involves pre-emptive attacks on nations we think are threatening us. If we do that with North Korea, China has just told us that we will be at war with THEM, as well. Are you even LISTENING?!???

Well we don't know what happened with China to lead them to state what they just did.

Perhaps it was Trump negotiating with them.

My point was that if talks are underway they may allow it.

I don't agree with it, just saying its a possibility.

The other possibility is that the Bush Doctrine would allow us to pre-emptively prevent china from stopping us.

Its a great strategy overall but its never been done with a super power before.

I would not say that. China did say if NK attacked the US or SK first they are on their own. The next question is if NK drops a missile in the Pacific near Guam does China consider that attacking the US? I doubt it.

China doesn't and never has liked NK.

They were a necessary evil to prevent allied access to their river systems.

Trump is once again acting like a fucking juvenile, I'm not surprised you would be impressed.
