5000 fraudulent votes in NH in 2016?

News story of the day here, not sure how I feel about state police and motor vehicle department getting involved....

A voting data request from the Speaker of the House to both the Department of Safety and the Secretary of State has revealed that more than 5,000 people who were allowed to vote in the November 2016 general election probably don’t actually live in the state and also never became drivers or registered vehicles in New Hampshire. In mid-August, Speaker Shawn Jasper, R-Hudson, requested the statistical information in order to assist representatives so they could assess “the effectiveness of our current election laws as well as future legislation that could improve our voter registration and verification processes.” Jasper pointed to both the Help America Vote Act – for new voters – as well as state law that requires state police to match the voter checklist with driving information to ensure accuracy and validity of voter checklists and registered voters.

On Nov. 8, 2016, 6,540 voters used an out-of-state driver’s license as identification to vote but as of Aug. 30, 2017, only 1,014 of those individuals – 15.5 percent – had been issued a New Hampshire driver’s license, according to the data. Of the remaining 5,526 individuals, only 3.3 percent – about 213 people – had a registered motor vehicle.

What's infuriating some is this news is coming from our secretary of state who is a democrat who sits on Trumps voter fraud commission.

Why Is This Dem Fixture Giving Cover To Trump?s Bogus Voter Fraud Panel? ? Talking Points Memo

I thought voter fraud didn't exist according to the left and if it does it would never make any difference anyway.

Obviously it made a difference in New Hampshire.

    Notice it says "probably"....

Just because you don't have a DL or one from another state doesn't mean your don't live in NH. This story does not seem to be verifiable yet.

In fact the WP looked into this claim and didn't find anything

Its preliminary findings from the police and DMV. We have a law here where if you cast a provisional ballot the police knock on your door to verify you live there. If you aren't there its considered fraud. Our neighbor got married last October and his wife was from FL and didn't have a NH drivers license. They made her do a provisional ballot and she had the police at her door confirming she lived there. Really terrified her. Its quite controversial.

If it's fraud I would think you wouldn't care who unearthed it.

It's much better to clean your house than sweep mold under the rug.

Besides, these few thousand voters are apparently accounted for as students, and also whatever number of people may just have moved into the state in the month or two prior to the election.

An analysis is required or we still know nothing. Everybody knows that a certain number of people fall into this statistical category for a number of reasons. If they aren't going to run it down a bit and tell us more about it, it's just more of the same crap, where we find out later that they are mostly students, or people with odd living/working situations, homes in multiple states, etc. You see this once in a while and when they get smoothed over, the Republicans just slink back into the woodwork grumbling...until the next time somebody brings it up, and then they come out howling bloody murder again...and then they quiet down and slink back into the shadows, grumbling some more...repeat forever to gradually persuade people that there is widespread voter fraud across the country.

Blame the brown people and the liberals, and next thing you know Louis' head is in a basket.

    Mmmmmmm....from your link

His longevity is also due to no one really viewing him as a Democrat anymore. New Hampshire’s secretary of state is chosen by its legislature, and the former Democratic state legislator has been confirmed time and again by acclamation, most of the time by a Republican-controlled statehouse, by assiduously avoiding any overt partisanship.

Gardner backed a GOP push this year to pass a bill requiring those registering within 30 days of an election to provide proof they reside permanently in the state or sign an affidavit and provide the documentation within 10 days after the election, with a potential penalty of $5,000.

The law now faces separate legal challenges brought by New Hampshire Democrats and by the League of Women Voter

Don't you know the fake news WaPo knows more than the New Hampshire police and DMV?

I guess given that, yeah...why would a Democrat be running the circus? Are they both going to start pushing that narrative now?

Well, why not? Why shouldn't their monolithic sameness be...well, monolithic?
