‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Likens Trump Supporters to Racist Klingons

I don't know if you've seen this new Star Trek series but they base episodes off of current events.

Kind of dumb really but now they are basing an episode off of racist Trump supporters.

Star Trek has definitely gone downhill at this point.

Producers of the new, Internet-only*Star Trek*series*say their new Klingon warriors are allegories for racist Trump supporters.

The forthcoming, 15-episode order of Star Trek: Discovery, to debut this month exclusively on the Internet-based CBS All Access, will follow a familiar Star Trek practice as the series looks to use its stories to comment on contemporary events.
The story arc of the new Trek series will focus on early relations between the United Federation of Planets and the war-like Klingon Empire. According to producers, that conflagration is an allegory to today’s political climate in the age of Trump, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The new season of 'American Horror Story' is doing the same.

Its sad to see Star Trek getting so political.

But its liberal Hollywood so I guess it was expected.

Star Trek has always been political. Roddenberry was a liberal and he incorporated many liberal ideas into his creation. You should probably never watch another episode, it might propogandize your brain off Trump.

I made a thread once about what ideology Roddenberry used for Star Trek and we couldn't come to a conclusion.

However, he never directly put in controversial issues from modern day into his shows or movies.

He didn't base episodes around them.

Getting so...? You didn't watch much of the original series, did you? Or Next Gen, for that matter, or Deep Space Nine. The only star Trek series that didn't delve into ideological, philosophical, and political questions, germane to the times on a regular basis was Voyager. And that's because it was just Lost in Space with Star Trek uniforms.

Roddenberry always believed that the best television not only entertained, but encouraged audiences to examine the world around them.
