Descendant of Robert E. Lee....Robert Lee IV speaks out about several things.....

Not just monuments to human beings that fought for a "right" to own other human beings as slaves (what about any rights of human beings enslaved?)....but he speaks about Christianity in a way so many other Christians have felt, but have been obscured by those claiming to be Christians that seem to want to suppress the main theme of Christ's teachings in opposition to what many Christians are taught.

I saw him and he said all the right things and even resigned his position with his own church because of the flack he got from his congregation against the statutes as he recognized they were erected not as a symbol of pride for the south but a ploy to intimidate blacks in the changing times of the 1950-1970's. (A not too subtle reminder to blacks in the poorest of neighbourhoods that their ancestors were once owned by whites in the south and to accept their lot in life as it had been worse for them in the past).
I hope this preacher turns out to be the real deal and in years to come he becomes a leader of a great group of people that are Christian and walk and talk and live the way Jesus Christ himself would have done. I have been burned too many times and if I were not skeptical it would be foolish of me. What do they say in cases like this, trust but verify? Too bad not enough people did that with Trump. Trump voters bought what he said without verifying the things from Trump's background like claims of his wealth (taxes) or at least not believing their own eyes and ears when he did and said the exact opposite of what he said during the campaign (like being for the working people when he has a history of leaving the average working man stiffed for work completed by them).

Sounds more like his church was about to oust him because of his liberal views so he ran away in fear.

What liberal views would those be Spookycolt? Just curious because I want you to spell out exactly what his church would find was against Jesus or even just liberal.

I don't watch it regularly but I did catch this man's appearance. I didn't find anything unusual about the segment except that Whoopie loved him for saying the things he did and I believe she said his words had moved her to the point she wanted to go back to church. I guess you think that's a bad thing?

I don't belong to his church, never heard a sermon so I can't give specifics.

I do know how church politics work however and a pastor doesn't just up and run.

Congregations don't turn on their pastor overnight like this. Obviously he was preaching about this since it happened and it looks like his people didn't like what he was saying or how he was saying it.

Maybe he called them all Nazis or something.

I don't watch "The View"......But unlike some other people who seem to think it's okay to dismiss what someone says, because it is on a show like "the View", I saw an article about what he had said and it led to this clip.

To me, it is amazing how he speaks for most of the people I know that are Christian and how their voices and the teachings of Christ seem to have been trampled by those who would deny homosexuals, asylum seekers, call those who terminate their pregnancies murderers, all the while promoting and supporting a vain/narcissistic, greedy, gluttonous, lying adulterer for the President of the United States who has totally failed to sincerely and without equivocation condemn ANY groups that would espouse hate for any fellow human beings and support for the notion of any human being's right to own another human being as property, doing the total opposite (taking away their rights) in doing so.

It sounds as if his "church" was doing as so many appear to have....which is to forget the teachings of Christ and adopt their own "teachings" which in many ways are in opposition to Christ's teachings.....Lee saw the writing on the wall that the people of his "church" wanted no part in the things he mentioned that Christ taught, only in pushing their own selfish group agenda... He was already preaching against the tide.....he can reach a wider audience and talk about the tide many others have also spoken about and as both a descendant of Robert E. Lee and a minister, he has legs to stand on that critics of what he is saying, do not.

This brings into question whether some churches know they are not teaching Christ's main themes (because they get in the way of their political and personal agendas of group protectionism) or are they just blind to what they have been doing and in denial that people have been leaving organized religion for the reasons Lee says he left his church and don't want to believe that could be possible or that they are being hypocritical or not teaching the way of Christ.

Apparently some seem to think that those who teach the things Christ taught, charity, love, empathy, humility......etc. are wrong because they would be categorized as "liberal" and anything that hints of being "liberal", in the eyes of some, appears to be a "neo" evil.......and so the it would seem some churches have adopted a neo republican conservative theme, rather then a Christian one, but use the guise of being "Christian" to retain congregations that are more interested in protecting their racial or political supremacy than the word and teachings of Christ.

    It looked beyond scripted.

I bet you they had a "clap now" for the audience.

He condemned them all by name.

    Guess you missed that part.
