They would have had to have been, and also aware whether these settlement payments were made public in any SEC filing required of that company or the conglomeration to which it belongs.

Hint: certainly not, and thus, the board is liable along with the CFA, the outside auditors and Weinstein himself. Covering this up oppressed the stock-buying public.

Also query why this board, aware of Weinstein's misconduct across time, did not force him out.

(This post assumes TWC was part of a publicly traded group of companies.)

    Not in my view.
Put the shoe on the other foot for a minute. What would happen if every time a wealthy or famous person was accused of sexual misconduct, it was aired on the cable news stations? One of the major complaints with these things is that the media stays silent, but isn't that a slippery slope for them to obligate themselves to speaking out in defense of every accusation, especially when they often boil down to "he said/she said" and often end in settlements?

If you feel their silence is a form of anti-victim activism, wouldn't they open themselves up to lawsuits and risk aiding and abetting false accusations by going in the other direction? When publicity without proof is added to the mix it can hurt lots of people, including accusers both by the retaliation if the accused is a well regarded person and by encouraging false accusations which when uncovered damage the credibility of all victims.

I get your point, in the context of this thread, it's clear that the weinstein thing wad a massive open secret in Hollywood. Even at awards shows there are examples of actresses winning and getting the "now you don't have to do stuff for weinstein anymore" *crowd laughs*

I think the bigger question is "why burn him NOW?" It's clear that this has been going on well over a decade, how can so many have known and nobody spoke until now?

How come as soon as this guy gets pointed out (I'm sure he's far from the only guilty one around), everyone comes in to throw him further under the bus? Is it to avoid looking deeper to avoid finding others like weinstein?

Imagine the shit storm that would be Weinstein's public relations and legal machine coming after you like an army of Terminators. If you cross that line you may as well move to Iran, where maybe he won't be able to fuck your whole world up.

    Understand?
You mean like all the Clinton crimes that never went to court?

Clinton has had several accuse him of being a sexual predator. How much did he pay Jones?
