Trump threatens to abandon PR--we can't keep military & responders forever.

So let me see how this plays out. CONGRESS tied their (paltry sum) help this week in the form of a repayable loan--thus adding debt on top of more debt. WE still haven't gotten into many towns and regions throughout the island country. We don't know how many people have died and are dying. I'll assume from the photos, AT LEAST 1/2 OF the structures, therefor homes are uninhabitable. There is a beginning of water borne illnesses hitting the population with 1/2 the hospitals closed and others on rationed care, still using generators with only the most dire getting treatments. Those who have resources are leaving the island and coming to the US, I'm guessing to stay.

If Trump and Congress play this right and delays help or pulls out, they can kill off the most vulnerable, so the population reduction will take care of itself. The well off can come here and stay and hopefully will fit in and no 'services/benefits' will need to be to be provided to them.

If everyone just IGNORES it, it will 'fix it self', one way or the other. I get the practical aspect of this. But like it or not, they are US. Are they going to let these people DIE there? Okay, but there are going to be some really bad optics out there folks. Get ready, it's going to be ugly!

Trump threatens to abandon Puerto Rico: ‘We cannot keep military and first responders there forever!’

President Donald Trump appeared to threaten to abandon the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico in a time of need in an early morning Twitter rant.
First, Trump cited commentary from Sinclair Broadcasting TV host Sharyl Attkisson, who said that Puerto Rico was entering a financial crisis “largely of their own making.”

Then Trump proceeded to slam the government of Puerto Rico for showing “a total lack of accountability,” while then saying that Congress needed to set a limit on how much it spends on helping Puerto Rico recover from a hurricane

    In my mind
Too many slightly brown people in PR for Trump's taste, and one of them seems intent on announcing the obvious, that being Trump's pathological incompetency.

What the hell are you talking about? If you are talking COST, it's a HELLUVA lot less than in a war zone. Logistics to PR vs. Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq?? Are you serious?

And you do realize we have about 8 facilities already there? UNLESS we evacuated them from PR and they are 'home' now?
    Thanks from Madeline and labrea

What is the per diem rate for Iraq and Afghanistan? We have been there for 15 years now.
