    Russian Troll factories....

Should we really be surprised by this?

How many trolls does anyone think were allocated to this website?

"Russia-sponsored troll networks still operating, targeting America"

Ex-Pentagon official says Russia may be operating hundreds of "troll" networks | McClatchy Washington Bureau

How long do you think we'll continue to hear from them?

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/07/u...-election.html

If you were to guess who they might be on this site, who would it be?

You don't have to say or maybe you should not say, but keep it in your mind, until this can is opened wide.......And we may see a number of posters disappear...

I truly doubt that a power would invest in shills on political fora. These sites are hardly influential in formulating public opinion.

I admit it. I'm a Russian Troll. I was sent here 10 years ago to embed myself, learn your cultures and how to act tribal in my views. I learned to argue about nothing to the 20-30 people online at anytime. On a good day.
Our hope is to convert people to vote for 1 of the 2 candidates that don't even belong in the potential candidate list. You see, we believe that if you have to pick one, it should be the one we want, instead of the one you want. And 50/50 says we'll like your candidate... since there is only 2 available out of 100's of great minds... we too wander what the career scandal-ridden real-tv politicians are thinking. We paid Mark Zuckerberg $100,000 USD to post our ads, but that wasn't enough. Our cell was activated and here I am... about 10 months too late, but I was busy.

In order to make trolls neutral is to simply ignore them. Trolls aren't an infection that is passed by person to person. They prey on the weak. Be just a tiny bit strong and you'll see them, ignore them and move on. I'm more confident in us than them.

    And other sites are???

    How so?

This would be the perfect place to try to influence people......the key word is "try"....

As one can see, at least for those that post (many MORE, do not) there is resistance to the daily dribble of BS......and it is debunked, and the daily ritual repeated.

Well John, you appear to be telling a bunch of people what they already know about trolls and intelligent people don't really care who or where they are, just that the internet is a perfect platform for just what some appear to be discovering they do.

Whether you are being facetious or not, regarding your being a Russian Troll, does not matter, all that matters is that here and other places would be good places for foreigners to pose as Americans to gain sympathetic influence......While they don't all need to be Russian or even foreigners, there are two factors that could be at play with foreigners working to influence who the power goes to in other nations. The obvious one is they want someone in power that is going to be friendly toward them and maybe turn the other way when they want to do something like retake a former Soviet state (in the case of Russia - Making the Obama/Clinton collusion thing a hard one to swallow, since we know where sanctions on Russia, came from). Trump has overtly expressed an atypical position toward Russia.....using the "logic" of 'why wouldn't we want to be more friendly with Russia'.....Something one could also extend to Iran and North Korea, in the same vein, if that vein were a sincere belief. Trump is ripe for looking the other way when Putin wants to make a move that others would put a stop to and already proved that they would, by having done so, already.

People respond to trolls (I am one of those that continue to respond to trolls, regardless of whether they are true and truthful Americans or not) for no other reason than to demonstrate the BS they continue to try to pass off. But you are right, the best way is to ignore them. I would have more confidence in "us" were we to NOT have Trump in the White House as that occurring fuels the notion that whatever influence there is that is discovered about Russian trolls and troll factories, may have been enough to push Trump over that edge to become POTUS....considering it is believed it was less than 80,000 votes across 3 states that gave him the Electoral College win. I am also assuming that in spite of your "confession" the "us" you have confidence in, is not referring to Russian trolls, but that your "confession" was facetious, if not mocking and you were referring to Americans in general.

As the last election and the 2000 election showed, it does not take a landslide to win an election, just the right number of people influenced to make it happen and while most thinking people are not deterred or have their minds changed by trolls, the bare few that make the difference in an election are vulnerable to believing BS, for the very reason their minds are stuck on political loyalty and emotion, not on thoughtfulness, thinking things through and researching details, facts and figures.

It is not the intelligent thoughtful people that are being targeted, as you mentioned, regardless of whether you were being facetious or not.

It's the old "can't and won't happen here", until it does......

What's amazing is how quiet Americans were in 2000, when George W. Bush was essentially handed to Presidency by a single vote majority of the SCOTUS based on a contested vote count in the one state of 50 the winning candidate's brother was governor of and the Secretary of State (the certifier of the vote) had been co-chair of the Bush for President campaign in that state.

Because of that, why wouldn't the same people try the same sort of thing over again, since they got away with it so easily then. it becomes easier if there is help from the outside and it can be chalked up to "business deals" when someone suspects collusion......

I suspect we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg on this one and we may or may not see some people disappear from here. I'm not sure what anyone can do about it, but monitor the ISP's and origins of posters and then require some sort of vetting.....

The sad thing about that is, as per usual, the free world loses more freedom, because of the abusive (exploitative) acts of a relative few.

We've already seen how the internet has been used to recruit people to join groups such as ISIS and al Qaeda and who knows how many other groups that only seem to be able to kill more of their own, than anyone else.

Yes, the same way en France......since the U.S. is not alone in the attempts of outsiders, to influence what occurs inside France, non?

But to an extent, what goes around comes around. It is not as though the U.S. or France have never tried to influence events in other sovereign nations, overtly or covertly, yet the subject of the reasoning seems to always come down the same factors, money and power.

    Non.
We talk a lot less about Russians.
And as a matter of fact we are more into opening borders than closing them.

How do you translate "dpayser" in English?
Does it have a negative connotation?
