I vaguely remember years ago, that the ACLU defined the rights of the KKK, nothing represents white supremacy more than the KKK.

I assume that you meant "defended" rather than "defined". The ACLU will represent anyone whose civil rights are challenged -- even if they wholeheartedly disagree with their ideology.

You are correct, I misspelled. I totally agree with you regarding the mission of the ACLU, which is why I don't understand their involvement in this case.

lol I am not sure what this says about your "alt right", that they listen to Taylor Swift... Nothing good about their manhood, that's for sure...

Probably because Swift threatened to sue in order to stop the blogger from posting her opinion, as is her 1st amendment right.

On Oct. 25, Herning received an intimidating letter from Swift and her attorney labeling the blog post as defamatory and demanding that she issue a retraction, remove the story from all media sources, and cease and desist. The letter threatened a lawsuit.

I am sure Taylor Swift is not a neo nazi. She could be afraid to stir the crazy pot. A supremacy groups just recently carried rifles and tiki torches in a rally that turned violent. One of those idiots could shoot her if she publicly spoke out about them .

The ACLU of Northern California is representing a blogger who wrote about singer Taylor Swift and one of her latest singles. It’s in response to a post where editor Meghan Herning notes Taylor Swift has become an “alt-right” icon—and the artist needs to pointedly denounce these fans’ white supremacist values. The post is a mix of political speech and critical commentary, and discusses the resurgence of white supremacy and the fact that some white supremacists have embraced Swift. The blog post argues that lyrics in Swift’s recent single “Look What You Made Me Do” seem “to play to the . . . subtle, quiet white support of a racial hierarchy.” It goes on to mention how extreme right-wing sites like Breitbart and The Daily Stormer have rallied around the song and Swift’s work generally. It also provides a critical interpretation of some of Swift’s music, lyrics, and videos. The post ends by calling on Swift to personally denounce white supremacy.

On Oct. 25, Herning received an intimidating letter from Swift and her attorney labeling the blog post as defamatory and demanding that she issue a retraction, remove the story from all media sources, and cease and desist. The letter threatened a lawsuit. Not only did Swift bring more attention to this post, she made her silence (and complacency) even louder. It only makes Swift look even more racist because it makes me immediately think (a) she is also a white supremacist, or (b) she doesn’t want to lose white supremacists’ money and adoration. Either way, this is a really bad look.

Okay...let me get this straight. She threatens to sue someone for calling her a white supremacist and that makers her a white supremacist?
