Trump's "not qualified" judge nominee forgot to mention his wife works in the WH!!

Married to TRUMP'S WH lawyer who also just happened to have to testify in front of Mueller. Seems like a kinda ab important detail to LEAVE OFF. But if you get to leave off MILLIONS AND MILLIONS IN off shore investments or millions IN ON SHORE investments or meeting with Russians, no big deal leaving off your POLITICALLY connected wife, right?

Trump judicial nominee busted after failing to disclose marriage to White House lawyer and Mueller witness

DON'T MISS STORIES. FOLLOW RAW STORY!

Brett J. Talley was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve in a federal judgeship in Alabama, despite never having tried a case in his life. Now it’s being revealed that the appointment might be another example of the president’s failure to “drain the swamp.”

According to the New York Times, Talley is married to Ann Donaldson, the chief of staff to the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn. Talley also never disclosed it on documents available to members of Congress who are weighing confirmation.

Talley was required to answer whether any family members or others would be “likely to present potential conflicts of interest.” He didn’t think to mention his spouse. He also didn’t mention her during his frequent contact with the White House lawyers during his nomination process.

The American Bar Association has already labeled Talley “not qualified” in a rare denouncing of the 2007 Harvard grad’s candidacy.

“Mr. Talley served as deputy solicitor general for the state of Alabama, currently serves in the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy and was recommended by Alabama’s U.S. senators,” said Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary. “He is more than qualified to serve in the federal judiciary.”...

Ouch. It's one thing to be related to White House staff ... it's another entirely to fail to disclose it when specifically asked.

There's a lot of stupid in Trump's orbit. Despite being caught again and again, it would appear that his nominees --- across departments --- are under the general impression that if they do not disclose an embarrassing fact when called on government paperwork to do so, it will not come to light.

It happens often enough that it makes one wonder if they are being coached to believe that.

It does seem implausible that he would think "Gee, I hope they never figure out what my wife does for a living."

On the positive side, it's a good indicator that they're wrong, and are not getting away with it.

Yes, but only by the barest margin in some cases, and that can't go on for very long before the senators who voted Aye anyway look really bad.

DOES NOT MATTER. They can create chaos, turn back processes and protections and do much HARM. Only takes 1 vote or an EO.
