I have to ask, since you know so much... was I supposed to go to OCS when I made Chief? Maybe I missed a step.
I have a good friend that retired from the Navy as a Master Chief. He said that during his tenure, he was offered the opportunity to be commissioned, but said that the very last thing he had any desire to be was a ensign. Master Chiefs ignore you and higher ranking officers abuse you.

This is a true story. There is nothing more sad than a 50 year old ensign. Yep, we have one.

After I made Chief and was initiated, I lost all interest in commissioning. It's just such an amazing organization. I remember how surprised the Air Force was, watching me go to work on things during my deployment. Navy Chiefs break barriers and connect people to make things work. As far as I have seen, no other branch has a role like that. Also, I was amused that the Navy gave me an SUV to scoot around on while I was deployed and once in a while I parked near the base commanders Jetta thinking... yep, they know how to take care of their Chiefs here.

I was in the 107th ACR (Unit is famous for an incident at Kent State), I was from Palmrya Township (Ravenna) so that was the unit that was closest. However, since it was not near the university that I was attending, I was TDY to another unit where I got lucky and wound up serving AGR. When I graduated, I went to OBC at Ft Sill.

Very cool. I was AGR as well. Went ADOS later to AGR after command. I miss that BAH but I've got a lot of money saved.

Separating from the military isn't easy. My last duty station was Camp Merrill, here in Georgia. After 21 years in the service, and as the single father of a 2-year-old, it was time. Right up to the time that they handed me the guidon at my retirement ceremony, I was having second thoughts. Good that you have saved a lot of money, I did the same but many don't. I have seen people retire then wonder why they get so little pay. They didn't realize that all the "allowances" stop and only 50% of the base pay is paid.

You can try and put this on Trump if you want but keep in mind that the pilots of today, were recruited under Obama. This problem did not happen overnight.

"keep in mind the pilots of today, were recruited under Obama"...........Say WHAT???

REALLY? We have no pilots, or very few, that were not recruited until after Jan. 2009?
If they are all that fucking young why are so many retiring?
