Many in my family have moved back to Texas from California. It's not just taxes though, California is expensive to live in. There is a lot to like here, but for the most part I can see why many leave too. I would too, but we really like the school our kids are in.

Oklahoma gutted their tax base so much they cant pay school teachers, now they are only having school 4 days a week. Republican Paradise.

School is like kryptonite to Oklahomans. So there's no real hardship there.

Don't worry. Lower taxes will spur the economy and the lower taxes on higher revenue will offset, then unicorns will bring everyone bags of money, and then finally Reagan will come down from heaven and bless everyone's gun. Good things coming down the pipe for mah okees!

    Mr. Gaffer,

California raised their taxes such to pay more for teachers and schools, only to end up with one of the worst school systems in the nation.

    Liberal paradise.

Oklahaoma ranks 18 out of 50

California ranks 28 out of 50.

My God man, do you ever have a clue about any subject you spout off about?

Hmm, Californians pay the highest state income tax, sales tax of 9.75%, high property taxes, gas taxes just went up 12 cents/gallon to make California's gas tax the highest in the nation. State corporate taxes are the highest in the nation, making California's business climate the worst in the nation, yet nary a word about Sacramento wasting money.

Then the Congress talks about eliminating one deduction, and the whining is off the chart....

    Gotta laugh, wot?
Property taxes are artificially low in California. No more than one percent of assessed value, automatically lowered when values drop, can't go up by more than one percent per year--residential and commercial property both.

And the one deduction they are "whining" about was a part of the original income tax code. The Federal government should not be competing with states for tax revenues.

    Mr. Rasselas,

Since property taxes are "artificially" low, you shouldn't complain about losing the deduction, wot?
