It's not on the brink of collapse NOW. Our public refusal to take its leader's counsel may push it in that direction.

One of Abdullah's selling points for remaining on the throne has been his close ties and special relationship with the U.S.

Ignoring Abdullah also may destabilize his government. Many Jordanians are Palestinian refugee descendants, and on top of that you have an ISIS element. We don't want to make the status quo regime seem weak. Or, does another Syrian debacle sound like fun?
Syria will be and is a debacle no matter what we do.

Israel is more powerful than Jordon is anyway - as well as more reliable and democratic ally. So I would much prefer we carry favor with them than some King, no matter how friendly he is.

    I agree with this.

If China wants to invade Florida and they take it I'd say more power to ya, you earned it, its yours.

This is why a strong national defense is necessary, to ensure that China doesn't take Florida, or anywhere else.

If Palestine wants to fight Israel and takes back "their" land then hey, great job, its yours now.

This jumping up and down, waving a piece of paper around and claiming it belongs to you just doesn't cut it.

You want it then go get it or shut up.

Abdullah is not "some King." He's a major non-NATO ally, officially on the same diplomatic level as Israel with us.

Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and until recently Afghanistan haven't been there, by comparison.

Otherwise, my question was, do you want ANOTHER debacle? Because it could easily spill into neighboring Jordan.

    That's a good point.

Though my post was referring to the six-day war when Israel's neighbors launched an attack on the tiny country attempting to wipe it off the earth. Israel defended it itself and picked up some land in the process. As far as I'm concerned - they earned it like you said and they should keep it as a lesson to others who may be thinking about attacking them.

Trump has a better than average chance of bringing on Armageddon.

    Entangling alliances.

Why would you want to rely on a nation that close to being problematic, that is not sound advice.

Israel is a much safer bet.

If you leave all internal politics out of it and look at it from a realism point of view then who is the nation over there that can best benefit the US.

    That is Israel.

Saudi Arabia is up there also.

We should have no interference in anything going on between the Palestinians and Israel, let them work it out however they want.

    Yes, he is some king.

He may friendly to us (like I said in my post). But he is still a King - and I prefer to put our democratic allies like Israel first.

    Kings can come second.
