‘It’s catastrophic’: U.S. allies reject Trump’s expected Jerusalem pronouncement

    From May of this year.

“We want to create peace between Israel and the Palestinians. We will get it done,” Trump said. “We will be working so hard to get it done. I think there is a very good chance and I think we will.”

At a lunch later on, he was even bolder: “It is something that I think is frankly, maybe, not as difficult as people have thought over the years.”

Peace between the Palestinians and Israel. So what has he done? Only grossly offended and marginalized the Palestinians, and the rest of the non Israeli world, with his newest actions.

Despite strong criticism from the Middle East and carefully worded rebukes from U.S. allies, President Trump is expected to formally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday and to announce moving the U.S. Embassy there in a decision that would upend decades of U.S. policy.

Several countries, among them many U.S. allies in Europe, are warning that the move could further disrupt relations between Palestinians and Israelis and spark unrest in the region.

Close allies such as Britain, France and Germany all criticized Trump or voiced skepticism ahead of his scheduled pronouncement. German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel used the example to emphasize Tuesday why traditional U.S.-European ties have started to “crumble.”

Shocker! Snotty personal comment frorm the bowels of intellectual failure.

Who died and made you mod? Or is this just another example of your patent inability to address a thread topic, instead trolling everyone more intelligent than you? Or trolling everyone not interested in perpetually blowing the president?

It is a matter of big concern. It will more push to the extremes the Palestinians with a big part of the Arab world and give comfort to Netanyahu to violate further international law. The question of the Israeli settlements in the territory occupied by Israel after 1967 is a poison. It is also a lack of vision because demography is in favor of the Palestinians and on the long run what will happen if they become a majority within whatever territories Israel wants still to control ? Furthermore in a time when religion is loosing influence in most Western societies through secularization, what will happen to Jewish people if they dilute themselves into the rest of the societies they are living in ? In my country the number of people of Jewish religion is steadily going down, because 4 out of 5 marriages involving one of them are with non Jewish people ? Will the dispaora still support Israel as it did until now ?

At one time these same Allies opposed the recognization of Israel as a nation. How did that turn out Truman took the first step.

This is about our Allies rejecting Trump's decision. Different from the other thread.
