    Unless you sat on the jury and saw all the presented evidence, I don't think it's the public's place to question a jury's ultimate decision.

    According to the OP, it was this:
    There is a reasonable interpretation here that favors the defendant: He found the gun at the seat, picked it up out of curiosity, and accidentally caused it to fire.
    If firing the gun wasn't an intentional act, then you have to argue that simply picking up a gun is an act that a reasonable person would see as mortally dangerous.

    The OP suggests that it was not proven it was his intention to fire the gun. I don't think it's illegal to accidentally discharge a weapon.
