If she refuses to do any of her job, then she is refusing to do her job. If I am a cashier, and I perform every duty that is required of me, but I refuse to take credit card payments, because I have a fundamental belief that credit cards are the tools of Satan, with the number of the Beast, guess what? I'm refusing to do my job, and I'm gonna get fired. Me insisting that I will not compromise my religious convictions will not save my job. Performing all of my other duties will not save my job. I refused to do my job. Kim Davis refused to do her job.

When i was growing up, personal responsibility meant that if your job conflicted with your values, you didn't ask your job description to change, you either did the job you signed up for, or quit.

I'm going to try that fucking bullshit at my job.

Yes, I'd love to help you, but my religion forbids me from helping non-born-again Christians. In fact, the whole nature of this business is offensive to God, so I cannot assist anyone here with anything in any way, or God will send me to hell.

Really...I'm an asshole because I'm not sincere about this? So what...this moron in Kentucky WAS serious about it. And because she made this appeal to religious people, the fact that she flat out refused to perform her duties on the job is totally excused, re-framed as some sort of heroic shit.
Wow, you make it sound so simple. So black and white. What if things change after you already have the position? You know that is what happened, right? When she was elected same sex marriage was not legal in Kentucky. Here's another fact for you, Kim Davis has never signed a marriage license for a same sex couple and never will. They changed the procedure because of her so that no other clerk in Kentucky would face the choice of giving up their religious beliefs or going to jail over signing a same sex marriage license. So who won that battle again? I am telling you BELIEVERS are freaking scary people. They will go to jail because of what they believe.

There are people in Islamic countries that believe they are allowed to murder homosexuals and adulterers. Throw them right off the rooftops of buildings, in the name of their religion. There have been murders and suicides in the name of religion throughout history. People who are BELIEVERS are gullible sheep and are dangerous. Yes, I know there are many on this forum of all religions who get offended by that but I'm sorry, it's the truth.

That's twice, you have mentioned the fact that the state changed the rules on issuing marriage licenses to indemnify themselves against lawsuits because Kim Davis refused to do her job, as if that demonstrates that Kim Davis didn't actually reuse to do her job. It doesn't. The fact still remains that, at the time of the application for a marriage license, it was Kim Davis' job to issue those marriage marriage licenses, and she refused to do so. That is refusing to do your job. I don't care what her reasoning was. I don't care if whe was willing to go to jail. The question is whether this elected official performed all the her required duties. She didn't.

I snipped your last paragraph as it was a non-sequitur.

And she was arrested for not doing her job.

    But I love this picture

In the last special election a women ran against a guy who had been in office for a long time but didn't think women should hold pubic office. She beat him.

I hope the same happens here.

    It's useless with him.

He hates anything "liberal" and chooses party over country every single time. Childish I know but like I said, useless.

At the bare minimum, she is paid by the taxpayers...gay people pay taxes too. She is a public servant on the taxpayer dime. She needs to do her job.

It is that simple. Government service is not a religious activity. If believing what you choose and keeping your religion out of your public office is not good enough for you, then here in AMERICA, where we believe the state should not espouse a religion, where religion is not law...in this country, people like that need to recognize that they live in a non-theocracy and they explicitly, according to the Constitution, cannot apply their religious principles over the law in a public position.

The truly scary thing about these ignorant fundies is that they are relentlessly assaulting the critically important separation of church and state. They try any underhanded, sneaky, conniving back-stabbing method possible to try to erode that separation anywhere they find it, in schools, public buildings, anywhere.

Think back to the concentrated, straight-faced effort to have science teachers teaching kids that dinosaurs and people walked the earth at the same time.

I don't understand how a relatively small group of total crackpots can make so much noise.
