    Resistance in Maine is strong! Susan Collins forced by irate constituents to walk back tax bill lie

    "Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) easily had the most disingenuous and embarrassing performance among Republicans, letting her vote-in support ride on promises from Mitch McConnell that she knew were absolutely worthless. Then she had the gall to go on national TV and lie about it. She's facing the music for that back home, as she should, and has been forced to walk back the lie, sort of."
    "Nearly two hundred people chanted “bullshit” outside the Portland office of Senator Susan Collins Wednesday afternoon, one day after the Republican attempted to walk back claims that the widely unpopular GOP tax bill would pay for itself. It’s actually projected to create at least a trillion dollar deficit, threatening bedrock government programs including Medicare and Social Security."
    "Collins has been under fire since voting for the widely unpopular bill this weekend and is now facing even more pushback after it appears she tried to justify her vote with a series of false statements. […]"

    ================================================== ==

    See what Collins gets for being a turncoat on what she had previously said she could not support!

    Since the Republican tax bill will most likely CUT Medicaid and Social Security from its beneficiaries Collins cannot be in a comfortable position at all at this time having supported those CUTS. Just goes to show that unfortunately you can't trust Susan Collins in the long run anymore.

    Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said Thursday that she may change her vote on the final version of the GOP tax reform bill if her proposed amendments are not included in its final version.

    "I would. I'm going to look at what comes out of the conference committee meeting to reconcile the differences between the Senate and House Bill. So I won't make a final decision until I see what that package is," Collins told CBS WABI 5 when asked if she would consider changing her vote.

    The House and Senate are currently in conference working out the differences between their two bills, and could include unique provisions from both in the final version.

    If she hadn't folded, someone else might have been strong enough to stand with her.

    It's not her fault alone but there are so few profiles in courage in the Senate that I've come to count on her. So her acquiescence was definitely a disappointment.

    Still, I mostly trust her. I think she probably believed that her amendments were "good enough". I think she'll keep her ears open as more data comes in and if she sees she was overly optimistic, or if the Republicans change the bill in the wrong direction, she'll probably change her vote when the bill returns to the Senate.

    Still need to find one more vote to stop it, assuming Corker stands strong.

    Absurd that they don't seem to realize that with that tax cut more people will be able to afford insurance more easily that will cover only relevant stuff.
