'The President Must Apologize': Haitian-American GOP Rep. Mia Love Slams Trump's 'Shi

Mia Love, one time seeming to be a rising star in the GOP, touted for her race combined with her party affiliation seems to not like the president's comments.

You see, her family is from one of them there shit hole countries.

Indeed, there seems to be a fair amount of folks in the the GOP defending and decrying the comments of the president, comments which appear to me to be nothing more than coded racism.

Bravo to Mia for not kowtowing to the president's racism because of party.

GOP Rep. Mia Love Slams Trump's 'Shithole Countries' Comment | Time

Republican Rep. Mia Love condemned President Donald Trump on Thursday over his reported comments referring to immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti and some African nations as coming from “shithole countries.”

The Utah representative, whose family is from Haiti, called on the president to apologize and said his remarks were “unkind” and “divisive.”

“The President’ comments are unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation’s values. This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation. My parents came from one of those countries but proudly took an oath of allegiance to the United States and took on the responsibilities of everything that being a citizen comes with,” Love said in a statement on Thursday.

I'm not a big fan of calling any American "un-American". I don't tend to like any one of us telling any others of us that they are "not who we are".

But Trump ..... well ... I surely hope he's not who the great majority of us are. Sadly, too many are proud of his vicious ugliness.

Thank you, Representative Love, for not letting your party affiliation stop you from coming forward and speaking truth to this sick, scary man.
    Thanks from Madeline

I understand fully why someone would take offense at their country of birth being called a "shithole", and it isn't very diplomatic or presidential language. But some countries are shitholes, and that's why the people who came from there are now here. No one is clamoring to immigrate to Haiti for instance. It is a shithole, much of it in the most literal sense. But Haitians do flock to America, and not for no reason.

Yeah. I actually use the word shithole a lot. In reference to third world countries.

I don’t think it’s an insult to people living there. It’d be more insulting to pretend the place was lovely. Haiti is a hellish place.

    That’s just stating facts.

But here’s the thing. He’s the leader of the country so he has a duty to apologize, and make it good.

But he won’t. Bet you anything. Because he’s a piece of shit who would never apologize to anyone for anything. Ever.

    That’s also just stating facts.

Perhaps they are shit hole countries.

However, juxtapose that against the statement that followed that up about wanting more Norwegians, and it does not take a rocket scientist to detect the racial connotations to the statement.

He didn't merely call the countries shitholes.

He said people from those countries weren't welcome here.

People such as Mia Love's family.

    Can't have people like that.

I hope, and I expect he will apologize. This will be an interesting test: will he refuse to admit he was wrong? He should. There's nothing to be gained by hurting people's feelings.

If you could put down your magic racism detector lens you might be able to admit that educated immigrants from a country like Norway would have more to offer than uneducated, unskilled, soon to be dependent on welfare immigrants from third world shitholes.

Are you saying the Irish have nothing to offer America? Never mind the fact that there isn't a big problem with Irish illegal immigrants.
